Position is PRN - with call required The Endoscopy Lab Tech working in the GI Lab at Northwest Medical Center assists in the nursing care of the endoscopic patient by performing duties and related activities, within scope of practice, for endoscopic procedures, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Additionally, performs all aspects of scope cleaning and high level disinfection. Responsible for the chemical monitoring of the Automated Endoscope Re-processor (AER). Assists with preparing rooms with needed appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment. Assists with procedural set ups. Functions as part of the procedural team, anticipating needs of physician, within scope of practice, during endoscopic procedures. Assists with positioning of patients during procedure, adjustments to scope equipment, palpates abdomen to guide scope. Exhibits thorough understanding of endoscopes and their workings. Ability to process and troubleshoot endoscope problems. Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements Education: Required: Post High School vocational/specialized training in a medical field or 2 years equivalent experience Experience: "Required: One (1) year healthcare experience. Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a GI, OR or relevant area. " Skills: Working knowledge of proper scope cleaning and sterilization; setting up rooms; bedside assistance with patients; computer skills and patient scheduling, a plus. Licenses/Certifications: "Required: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
