Required Skills:
Assess the health care needs of the patient and take appropriate action by implementing, and evaluating care;
Determines care that is appropriate to the age of the patient with consideration to physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs;
Renders advanced nursing care including the administration of medications and IV fluids;
Utilizes equipment and technology to implement nursing intervention and patient care insuring safety and adherence to policy and procedure;
Follows guidelines for obtaining, handling and disposition of specimens;
Adjusts the plan of care according to changes in the patient’s condition;
Sets priorities and organizes work to deliver efficient patient care;
Meets the learning needs of the patient through assessment, individualized, instruction, and reassessment of understanding;

Communicates plan of care to patient, family, and other health care members;
Provides documentation in the medical record that reflects all aspects of care provided;
Assumes charge responsibilities (as appropriate);
Performs other duties as assigned;
Member of the Quality Assurance process;
Participates in monitoring activities of the Quality Assurance process;
Complies with policies and procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment;

Required Experience:
Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques through completion of an accepted degree in nursing; diploma, associate, or baccalaureate program;
Possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas;
Ideally, one to three (1-3) years’ experience in an OR or Endoscopy environment. Ambulatory experience a plus;
Skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients of all stages of growth and development;
Participate in USPI EDGE™ program;
Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Pushing, pulling, and lifting patients, and/or equipment;
Dexterity skills needed for patient treatment;
Exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous materials;
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and/or walking.
