Employment Specialist Details

Employment Type : Full-Time

1) Identify persons supported who want to pursue individualized, integrated employment or self-employment, and assist them to determine their interests related to work. Help these persons supported, along with their family and friends, to identify their skills, strengths and other contributions which would be valuable to employers or for self-employment. Through observation and assessment, determine conditions necessary for successful employment or self-employment.

2) Assist persons supported to apply for services through Vocational Rehabilitation, and share information with VR staff about the information learned about the person supported during the process of discovery.

3) Complete and submit necessary documentation as required by Vocational Rehabilitation and/or Employment and Community First Choices within required timeframes.

4) Organize and participate in planning meetings with persons supported and other key persons who will support them to gain employment. Develop written plan for Job Development or Self Employment that summarizes strategies to secure employment for the persons supported.

5) Provide or arrange training and other supports for persons supported to gain and maintain an individualized, competitive or customized job, in an integrated setting where the person supported will be compensated at or above minimum wage.

6) Provide or arrange support to assist persons supported to launch self-employment where the net income will be at or above minimum wage after start up.

7) Provide or arrange supports on the job that are time limited or have a focus on fading to reduce the need for paid supports over time. Provide follow along services using strategies such as removing barriers from the environment, training, assistive technology, and engaging new and existing natural supports to promote more integration and less paid supports.

8) Provide education and foster relationships with employers to develop and maintain potential work sites for individuals with disabilities.

9) Support persons supported to reach personal and career goals. Assist persons supported to achieve career advancement through identifying goals and developing a viable plan to achieve these goals.

10) Work with employers to develop agreements for one or more coworkers or supervisors to provide supports such as Job Coaching to enable the person supported to maintain employment.

11) Complete initial and ongoing trainings required by Vocational Rehabilitation and ECF Choices program, and keep all required certifications current.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
