Position Summary: The Emergency Services Technician I under the direction of the Medical Director, Emergency Services Manager & Director, and Registered Nurse are responsible for implementing technical procedures and care on all Emergency Department patients safely and effectively according to the EMT scope of practice.

Essential Functions:


  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of intermediate patient care, to include vital signs, venipuncture, urinary catheterization, cardiac monitoring, and 12 lead EKG.

  • Participates in the Quality Improvement Process.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patients' right to privacy and protection of patient's confidentiality.

  • Monitors and documents information regarding patient activities, as directed by the Registered Nurse.

  • Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.

  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential safety issues.

  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.

  • Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.

  • As a crisis prevention intervention trained staff member, responds appropriately to a manpower request.

  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:Prior acute care experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
EMT, State of Florida required. Basic Cardiac Life Support - AHA or Military Training Network required. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required within 60 days of hire.
