Job Description

Emergency Medical Technician

Description: The EMT Basic, or EMT-I, is a provider of pre-hospital care, trained to provide Basic Life Support as per the standards set forth by the State of Illinois. Services provided on an Advanced Life Support ambulance crew, the EMT Basic will be under the direction of a paramedic.

Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age (age may be waived at President's discretion.)
  • Valid Illinois Emergency Medical Technician License
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Current CPR card. No employee will begin work without a current CPR card.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Arriving promptly for assigned duty
  • Caring for all equipment and reporting deficiencies or missing equipment in a timely manner
  • Being ready for assignment as quickly as possible at the beginning of each shift and after each call
  • Driving company vehicles in a safe prudent manner under routine and emergent conditions. Age requirement is 21 years of age for driving an ambulance
  • Responding to all calls and assignments without delay
  • Becoming familiar with local geography and municipalities to respond efficiently to calls and assignments
  • Providing patient care to the best of their ability and meeting established protocols
  • Documenting all patient according to RuralMed LLC policy, pre- hospital protocols, and the State of Illinois EMS standards
  • Providing accurate and concise radio reports to receiving hospitals
  • Demonstrate the ability to render competent patient care in both pre-hospital and interfacility care transportation
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Demonstrate physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of duties as an EMT Basic and/ or EMT- Intermediate
  • Submit all continuing education documentation to education instructor on a quarterly basis
  • Providing accurate and concise radio reports to receiving hospitals
  • Demonstrate the ability to render competent patient care in both pre-hospital and interfaculty care transportation
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Demonstrate physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performances of duties as an Emergency Medical Technician
  • Submit all continuing education documentation to education instructor on a quarterly basis
  • Demonstrate the ability to clean and maintain the cleanliness of all RuralMed LLC property including, but not limited to, its vehicles, equipment, buildings, and surrounding areas
  • Demonstrate the ability to document the required information on the daily inspection report and the daily narcotic log form accurately and completely
  • Adherence to all RuralMed LLC policies and procedures

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
