This position is located in the Electro-Machinist Division WCF; Office of Currency Manufacturing (Deputy Plant Manager) WCF; Associate Director – Manufacturing; Bureau of Engraving & Printing. EM Trainees serve a four-year training program and receive progressive on-the-job training supplemented by related didactic instruction in either the machinist or the electrical/electronic craft, which will qualify the trainee to perform the tasks of a journeyman Electro-Machinist. As an Electro-Machinist Trainee, you will: Occasional travel - 1-5 Nights per month No 02 2606 Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Requirements Physical Requirements: EM trainees frequently handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally carry objects weighing over 45 pounds for considerable distances. EM trainees are required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend and work in cramped positions over and under machinery of all types for sustained periods. EM trainees normally work inside in areas that are adequately ventilated and heated. Floor and deck surfaces at times uneven, oily and slippery. EM trainees are frequently exposed to moving objects and sharp edges. EM trainees are exposed to cuts, bruises, abrasions, noise and vibration. Occasionally work is performed from ladders, scaffolding, and staging areas exposing EM trainees to the possibility of serious injury from slipping, and falling. EM trainees are frequently exposed to areas that are greasy and damp. Various protective devices and clothing such as gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection and safety glasses are at times required.
