General Description: *
The Senior Electrical and Controls Engineer will work to standardize and manage resources for the control system philosophies and implementation across all Parkson brands and products. This includes all electrical drawing packages, submittals, instrumentation, programming, documentation, installation instructions, O&M and varies other aspects of the controls system. The incumbent is expected to implement and/or lead the application of advanced computer/PLC/HMI programming, and to exhibit extensive electrical controls knowledge and process engineering skills. This role includes the use of structured problem solving and statistical process improvement methodologies. Requires close collaboration with various project stakeholders during the design and implementation process to troubleshoot and resolve problems throughout all phases of project implementation and service after delivery.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: *

  • Analyze and interpret customer supplied information in order to design new equipment/systems or modify existing equipment/systems to meet their requirements.
  • Make sure the specifications on each project sold meets what we have quoted. Once the projects are in house, serve as Project Engineer for the creation of drawings, bills of material, submittal packages, and installation/ operation manuals to support the design, facilitate installation, and achieve customer approval. As the project progresses to the installation phase, answer any questions the Engineer or Contractor might have in order to complete the project.
  • Prepares or leads development of drawings and models based on sketches using standard techniques and computer assisted design/drafting equipment.
  • Support realization of designs through supply chain and field testing.

Education and/or Experience: *

  • BSEE, BSEET, ASEET or similar degree in a related discipline, i.e., Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, etc.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical and controls system design and programming
  • Must have extensive experience designing and implementing PLC and HMI based controls
  • Water and wastewater industry experience is preferred
  • Multiple PLC, HMI, and control system platforms including Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, and others.
  • Experience in a panel shop environment is preferred

Knowled*ge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Complete knowledge of and ability to trouble shoot and program relay logic, ladder logic, pneumatic logic.
  • Complete knowledge of and ability to use RS232, RS422, DH485, Ethernet, DH+, Device Net, Control Net and remote I/O communications protocol.
  • Complete understanding and ability to use electrical CAD, PLC and HMI programming methods, MS Office and all related computer software for design and programming controls.
  • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive relations
  • Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures, and guidelines
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, peers, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to read, interpret and create schematics, specifications, and code
  • Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to work flexible hours
