Summary/Objective The Environment Health and Safety Manager provides technical environment, health & safety (EH&S) support to field and territory personnel and staff (e.g. finance HR, legal) roles. The EH&S Manager assists the Area General Manager (AGM), District Managers (DM) and District Staff (e.g. superintendents, forepersons, warehouse personnel, etc.) with all aspects implementing an environment safety and health program and achieving annual EH&S objectives buy using the company EH&S Management System. They will provide assistance with training coordination and execution and providing feedback based on observations and inspections. The Safety Manager shall monitor environmental health and safety regulations and provides technical support to area and territory personnel to ensure compliance with federal, state or local EH&S regulations. A key function of this role will be to monitors the collection of data within his/her territory related to EH&S, specifically prevention activities, leading and lagging indicators for the entire area and develop a process with the Senior Manager of Environmental Health and Safety and their Area General Manager to communicate that data within the territory. Finally, the territory EH&S Manager will coordinate all are EH&S activities with the AGM and the Senior EH&S Manager. Essential Functions Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for territory and district staff. The individual will need to manage through influence and help to create cultural independence amongst the districts he/she is responsible for. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment, on construction sites, in warehouses and on customer sites during normal operation. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and personal protective equipment to include: safety glasses, gloves, steel toed shoes, personal fall arrest systems, hard hats, bump caps etc. They typical field work environment will require working at heights, on temporary platforms and in hoistways. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is frequently working around jobsite hazards and other trades. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb ladders, stairs, ride in buck hoists at heights in excess of 500 ft, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The territory safety manager may lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM however work hours may change commensurate with work and company activities. For example, evening work shifts will be required to assess 2nd and 3rd shift work activities and behaviors related to EH&S. Additionally, special events such as an incident investigation may require travel at a moment’s notice and work days greater than 16 hours. Travel Travel is extensive, approximately 75% within the territory, area and throughout the entire US organization. Additionally, travel may be required to assist with special projects, incidents investigations and professional development. Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety)
