EHS Engineer Details

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of leading-edge environmental health and safety programs and policies that ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations for a multidimensional manufacturing, research and development, and administrative facility. Support key objectives through continuous improvement. This role reports to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete daily EHS standard work, identify unsafe acts or conditions, establish associate/ manager relationships and pro-actively solve EHS issues.

Develop, plan and implement innovative EHS programs that meet regulatory and corporate requirements.

Develop an innovative EHS training program.

Review chemical purchases, chemical processes, equipment, machinery, etc.

Oversee EHS risk assessment process.

Recommend engineering controls and/or work practice changes that reduce risk and achieve compliance with EHS regulations and best practices.

Provide assistance to supervisors and their teams on hazard identification, risk assessments and control implementation.

Routinely conduct internal EHS inspections.

Assist with EHS equipment selection, purchasing and inventory control.

Assist with EHS incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Assist with the management of workers’ compensation coverage and claims.

Assist with EHS recordkeeping and report submittals.

Support industrial hygiene monitoring.

Support associate medical monitoring and recordkeeping.

Maintain safety data sheet database.

Participate in emergency preparedness and response planning, exercises and response activities.

Lead facility emergency response team.

Serve as facility point of contact on EHS issues when EHS Manager is not available.

OTHER NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Other special projects and duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (or related field) + 5 years of professional EHS experience (manufacturing experience preferred).

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (or related field) + 2 years of professional EHS experience (manufacturing experience preferred).

Hazardous waste management and wastewater treatment experience preferred.

Completion of hazardous waste and DOT hazardous materials training (or must immediately complete upon hire).

American Red Cross adult first aid, CPR and AED certification (or must immediately complete upon hire).

Frequent/daily exposure to large quantities/volumes of hazardous and nonhazardous chemicals and micro-organisms.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

Employees will be required to wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hat or face shields. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING
External hiring into this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check and possible credit history review.

The hourly rate or salary range for this role is $56,600 - $77,800 . This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
