Summary: Responsible for supporting the Library and the assigned school by assisting students, staff and community members with locating appropriate materials; teaching library skills, and technology that supports the current curriculum and the APS pacing guides May be assisted by Paraeducators, students and/or volunteers. Individuals in this position are generally responsible for one of the following: supporting a Librarian in the Library or solely operating a Library without a Librarian onsite
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDaily 60% At the direction of an administrator, teacher or Librarian, may be responsible for the full operation of the Library. Promote and encourage reading and/or technology integration of 21st Century Library Information Literacy Skills for both enjoyment and information; Communicate with Library Services, Technology E.A., administrators, and teachers regarding curriculum and the APS pacing guides, to plan activities with students while teaching students researching skills, suggesting and locating media- and/or technology-related materials and equipment.
Daily 20% Support material and equipment use by checking in/out items, accurately shelving and storing items, and repairing and troubleshooting materials/equipment, charging and receipting fines and/or cataloging materials.At the direction of an administrator, teacher or Librarian may be responsible for purchases and maintaining the library budgets; and/or reserving Library Learning space. Demonstrate available district database and digital resources with students, staff, and community members
Daily 5% Assist staff by researching, suggesting and locating libraryand/or technology-related materials that align with the Colorado Literacy Standards. Provide and/or assist with Professional Learning to staff on current Technology. Instruct and support students and staff by teaching library, Internet and/or television production skills
Daily 4% Direct the activities of paraeducators, students and/or volunteers, including training, and assigning work.
D/W 3% Recommend and/or purchase materials, and purging unused, outdated or inoperable materials/equipment. Cross-train on duties within the Library and provide back-up to other positions as needed.
D/W 1% May create school identification cards and/or Library or technology accounts for students, staff and community members.
W/M 3% Produce and use reports from the system. to enhance collection development and library return.
Mnthly 1% May monitor students in various non-classroom settings as requested
Mnthly 1% Perform inventory of library books, equipment, and textbooks.
Yrly 1% Attend professional learning opportunities such as conferences, workshops, seminars and/or inservices to become a highly effective employee.
Daily 1% Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:High school diploma or equivalent. Must have completed at least two years (48 credit hours) of study at an institution of higher education or obtain a passing score on the WorkKeys assessment in Math, Reading and Writing.

EXPERIENCE: One year of experience working with children and personal computers required. One year of experience with media skills or specific hardware, software or equipment may be required based on the position.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER: Oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, decision making, problem solving, public relations, personal computer, multi-tasking, general office, time management and basic math skills. Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and seek out appropriate resources to meet needs. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers required at hire. Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System may be required within 1 month after hire. Operating knowledge of the Follett Library System and general office equipment may be required within 1 month after hire. Operating knowledge of specific computer software and hardware may be required at hire.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: None required.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: May directly supervise up to 6 employees. Positions supervised may include Paraeducators, volunteers, student assistants and students. Spends less than 10 percent of time conducting supervisory responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; assisting with evaluations; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and assisting with interviewing and hiring. Acts as a resource for individuals throughout the school by assisting with Library and/or technology materials and equipment, by troubleshooting technology problems, by instructing others on the use and enjoyment of Library resources and equipment and by providing an organized center/system to promote student education and enjoyment.
SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS: May have low to medium exposure to self to bruises and cuts due to boxes, moving equipment, shelving books and typical office accidents; to fractured bones due to falling from step stools; to hernia due to lifting boxes and equipment; and to repetitive motion injuries due to keyboarding.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee may occasionally be exposed to airborne particles (dust in ceilings while wiring); high, precarious places (high shelves and step stools); extreme heat (hot equipment and production lights); and/or outdoor weather conditions.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to compare, analyze, communicate, copy, coordinate, instruct, use interpersonal skills and compile. The employee is frequently required to compute and evaluate. The employee is occasionally required to synthesize and negotiate.
