QualificationsThe BLM Campbell Creek Science Center engages all learners in outdoor experiences that increase appreciation, connection, and stewardship of Alaska's public lands and natural resources (www.blm.gov/ccsc). CCSC hosts environmental education field trips, distance learning, and interpretive programs for children and adults, as well as special events, volunteer opportunities, and offsite outreach to schools and the public. CCSC's outdoor campus is located on 730 acres of public land in the heart of Anchorage, Alaska, which is use as our outdoor classroom. In addition to programs located onsite, the CCSC provides environmental education programming for BLM Alaska across the state and for all learners.
In order to qualify, you must meet the BASIC Requirement *AND* the ADDITIONAL Requirement in order to qualify for this position. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. BASIC Requirement for the 1701 series:
A. Successfully completed a bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to this position.

B. Have a combination of education and experience, courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in "A" above.

ADDITIONAL Requirement: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, in addition to the Basic Requirement above, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education below for the grade level in which you are applying.
Specialized Experience as a GS-09: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) coordinating educational events; (2) implementing education plans that align with national and state education standards; (3) delivering environmental and education trainings for staff; and (4)preparing literature and/or instructional materials related to educational activities, including grade-school curriculum.

Education: Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to this position. One year of graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours, or the number of credit hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

Combination: Have an equivalent amount of experience and graduate education. To compute, first, determine your experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determine your graduate education as a percentage of the education required. Only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. Specialized Experience as a GS-11: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) utilizing science, arts, and humanities as mediums of expressing cultural and environmental concepts; (2) developing education plans and curriculum that align with national and state education standards; (3) instructing environmental and education pedagogy trainings for staff; (4) preparing publications and/or literature related to educational activities; and (5) assisting with formulating and/or managing annual operations budget and annual work plans.

Education: Have successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to this position. One year of graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours, or the number of credit hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

Combination: Have an equivalent amount of experience and graduate education.
