POSITION SUMMARY
Manages a caseload of new patients who are in need of Diabetes equipment and supplies as prescribed by their physician. The representative primarily makes outbound calls to patients and provides product information, informs on disease state implications, answers general questions, discusses cost and insurance plan coverage, and explains the new intake process to set proper expectation for timing and responsibility for processing. Does interact with manufacturer counterparts on patient specifics, which leads to relationship development and enhancement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Receive and follow up on all new patient referrals for diabetes equipment within Service Level
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines, ensure proper verification of patient, maintain and update demographics, insurance information
- Reviews cost and coverage for products with patients as applicable
- Manages assigned patients through medical records retrieval requests, prior authorization submissions, and shipments processes
- Consultative sales while offering solutions to patient inquiries concerning diabetes equipment
- Accurately selects correct product and catalog codes, and billing and insurance information. Charts all calls and notes in the patient’s record, thoroughly documenting performed activities in internal records systems as part of the on-boarding process
- Maintains consistent communications with manufacturer partners on relevant intake and equipment issues. Submits relevant and authorized patient’s requests and information to provider offices to initiate service
- Provides outstanding customer service to patients throughout the new intake process
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of healthcare industry experience (highly preferred)
- Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse’s Assistant, or Professional Medical Coding Certification (preferred)
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology and payer/insurance processing and plans (highly preferred)
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to cope with heavy telephone and computer use
- Excellent Customer Service able to demonstrate both professional written and verbal communication skills (proper email / phone etiquette)
- Knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology
- Knowledge of payer/insurance processing and plans

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
