The Department of Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure track Investigator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This position will serve as Chief of its Division of Cardiac Surgery, and will also play a key leadership role within Northwestern Medicine’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI). Successful candidates should have a proven track record of leadership in clinical cardiac surgery. Clinical responsibilities cover the entire gamut of adult cardiac surgery and include covering the cardiac surgery inpatient service with other members of the Division of Cardiac Surgery, performing consult and surgical services, and conducting outpatient clinics. Teaching responsibilities will include involvement in student, resident, and fellow education. The successful candidate should have a proven track record in securing extramural funding to support academic endeavors, which may be in the basic, translational, clinical trial or health services outcomes research. Qualified candidates will be cardiac surgeons who have their MD, are board certified in Thoracic Surgery, and have at least eight years post-fellowship experience as an attending cardiac surgeon, are eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois, and are eligible to work in the United States.
