Diversity Trainer for Organizational Training On Unconscious Bias

Department Overview: This position serves as a trusted advisor responsible for helping to drive change throughout the organization for the Unconscious Bias Initiative, reporting to the Diversity Program Manager for Organizational Training on Unconscious Bias with dotted reporting line to the Executive Vice President of Equity & Inclusion. This position is led by the Diversity Program Manager of Organizational Training for Unconscious Bias on a day-to-day basis and will be given set assigned goals for number of individuals to train per quarter/year.
The Organizational Trainer on Unconscious Bias is responsible for collaborating with a team of instructional trainers on unconscious bias in the development of organizational based training to aid in the development of leaders, managers, staff, and students to be trained on diversity, equity, and unconscious bias curriculum. In partnership with their colleagues in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI), and collaboration with Human Resources and other stakeholders, the Trainer will co-design, deliver, and monitor diversity learning throughout OHSU to help ensure that diversity learning is delivered in an on-going and impactful way for the OHSU community.

Function/Duties of Position:Management and Administrative Responsibilities:Trainers on Unconscious Bias are involved in the design, development, and delivery of diversity training and solutions to better assess, align, and utilize our organizational and human resources at the individual, leader, team, and organizational levels as it relates to diversity and unconscious bias training. Responsibilities in assisting the Diversity Program Manager for Organizational Training on Unconscious Bias as follows:Partner with Diversity Program Manager for Organizational Training for Unconscious Bias on issues pertinent to leadership, organizational effectiveness related to diversity, unconscious- Bias, and change management in an effort to improve overall organizational climate and culture.
- Build a learning & development strategy, a customer driven learning program, and evaluation of diversity training programs in alignment with diversity business strategies under the direction of the CDI management that motivates and supports the talent development of the organization, aligned with the diversity strategic plan, long-term shareholder value, and diversity best practices.
- Lead diversity training initiatives, which include, design of change management strategies, stakeholder management, leadership buy-in, and associate engagement related to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Serve as an internal expert consultant (team member) for organizational performance assessment, organizational design, organizational change, climate assessment, leader and team assessment and development, and learning as it relates to diversity and unconscious bias.
- Provide coaching to leaders as requested. Leverage internal resources (e.g. Center for Diversity and Inclusion) to deliver solutions as appropriate.
- Assess and diagnose organizational situations, ensure alignment of diversity business goals with organizational designs and develop or recommend solutions (i.e. functional design, roles and responsibilities, leadership alignment, skill development, etc.).
- Develop curriculum to increase diversity and facilitate leadership and associate workshops that will strengthen organizational capabilities, associate skill set, and team performance, and to improve process and outcomes.
- Be part of a learning and instructional design team; implement and oversee institutional diversity training model/s and develop instructional support materials and conduct train the trainer sessions to help trainers prepare for facilitating learning events in delivery of unconscious bias.
- Plan, design, and implement diversity training and development topics that specifically target the unique needs of underserved and diverse students, staff and faculty.
- Integrate diversity and inclusion within the entire portfolio of training and development programs that will help build the working and learning environment toward inclusion excellence.
- Design and develop learning evaluation tools, including systems to monitor use and impact of diversity training and development programs at the individual, department and programmatic level.
Administrative Responsibilities included as follows:- Responsible for scheduling and organizing meetings and trainings.
- Communicate by email, phone and in person as required.
- Help manage and maintain other administrative business needs of training.
- Support standing meetings i.e., coordinate and draft and create agendas and minutes, and coordinate follow-up of action items for tracking purposes of development of diversity and unconscious bias training, as needed.
- Research, write, edit, and produce training materials for in person and/or computer-based delivery;
- Research content by conducting interviews, attending courses, running focus groups, writing and reviewing surveys, reviewing existing materials, participating in meetings and searching reliable external sources;
- Keeps record of attendance and reports achievement/outcomes/evaluation/ and learning outcomes of training.
- Prepare reports and report progress/outcomes, as needed
- Work in collaboration with CDI leadership and administrative coordinators to deliver seamless training and resources
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in learning & development:
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to combine a successful and in-depth learning development/ diversity training background with demonstrated strengths in design, development and delivery of high-impact learning solutions.
- Posess the ability to function as a catalyst, coach, presenter, and trainer, guiding people at all levels of the organization by utilizing a facilitative approach to advance the learning and development of others.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects at once.
- Possess a balance of strategic, technical, operational and tactical leadership skills; demonstrated ability to operationalize learning best practices.
- Have a record of working collaboratively with business leaders, HR colleagues and vendors, as well as independently, using sound judgment and strong initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and professional speaking skills with ability to articulate and execute a clear vision.
- Ability to influence others in ways that build long-term collaborative relationships.
- Experience in organizational development in roles with large, complex organizations, preferably with experience in organizational development focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Knowledge and experience in utilizing organizational development models and assessment tools, and change management preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:- Masters Level, or relevant advanced degree
- Experience in higher education, health research, and experience with an educational setting at a management level focused on diversity, equity, inclusion.
- Experience working with diverse populations (students/employees/ community members at large).
- Ability to write trainings, manuals, and other technical reports demonstrating data points and outcomes
- Experience in recruitment and retention of diverse workforce
- Certified Unconscious Bias Trainer.
- Ability to develop, empower and motivate individuals and teams to their highest level of achievement with a focus on measureable results.

Flexibility to arrive earlier or stay late and possible weekend/evening activities.
