SALARY GRADE: Flat Rated Knowledge of: court system and legal office practices and procedures. Bachelor's degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field; or an Associate Degree in a related field and two (2) years of experience in the court system or as a legal secretary or paralegal; or high school diploma and four (4) years of experience in the court system or as a legal secretary or paralegal; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
District Court 14, serving Durham County, seeks a qualified individual to provide administrative duties for the Chief District Court Judge.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
The person in this position reports to the Chief District Court Judge. Work hours are 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Compose and prepare a variety of materials including correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
Skills in: case management; organization; entering data quickly and with accuracy; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to: explain office and court procedures, and regulations to the public; analyze and interpret facts or program information to make necessary decisions with accuracy; work independently in administering or coordinating special court programs; accurately spell and apply proper grammar; work well with others; and organize and complete work by specific deadlines.
