Oversees all Distribution Center functions and is responsible for compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines and requirements. Supervises the Distribution Center inventory control and computer operations. Serves as the educator, quality control, security and safety officer for the Distribution Center. Recommends procedural changes, process improvement, customer service initiatives and productivity.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and directs Distribution Center employees.
  • Assumes responsibility for the operations of the Distribution Center in the absence of the Manager.
  • Maintains an adequate amount of supplies daily as required for proper patient care.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality and is compliant with all Hospital and Regulatory Agencies requirements.
  • Handles the daily operation of the Distribution Center software programs and IT equipment
  • Ensures that all supplies are ordered, received and distributed to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly Distribution Center at all times. Assign locations and space requirements for the storage of products.
  • Ensures proper, safe operation and maintenance of material handling equipment, departmental vehicles and complies with the Network Vehicle Policy.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Standing for up to 6 hours, up to 3 hours at a time. Walking for up to 6 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Sitting for up to 2 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Frequently uses fingers for data entry, etc. Frequently uses hands for stocking of shelves, etc. Frequently uses upper extremities to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequently stoops, bends, or reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony. Frequently pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 500 pounds.

EDUCATION:

Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field and/or supervisory experience with 5-7 years experience in the following departments: Distribution, Receiving, Purchasing required. Thorough knowledge of inventory control and warehousing.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Extensive Hospital Experience in Distribution Center Management or other related Departments typically gained through 5 – 7 years experience. Experience in leadership, conflict management and team building. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines. Thorough knowledge of Distribution Center, inventory control and computer application in Healthcare. Knowledge of Receiving – Picking - Shipping Supplies, Equipment and Furniture Orders. Planning skills to be able to construct shelving. Computer literate with Materials Management System – Package Tracking Program. Experience with Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, Access.
