Distribution Center Manager

Summary:
Directly supervises warehouse employees in the distribution center. Carries out Manager Responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Plans, directs, and coordinates all restocking and shipment activity through supervision of workers engaged in daily operation of the distribution center. Responsible for personnel development, including hiring, training, performance management and compensation. Reports to the DC Director of Operations.
Provides the daily support to direct and control activities within the distribution network to maintain the efficient and economical utilization of facility resources and ensure proper distribution and delivery of outbound orders and inbound receipts. Provides support to ensure total commitment to a high level of quality distribution and leadership while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develops and maintains distribution operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.
- Provides input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
- Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
- Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
- Coordinates distribution activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
- Determines responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
- Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations including OSHA policies and procedures.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of distribution center and its employees.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
- Confers with other Supervisor(s) and Managers to coordinate activities of department.
- Responsible for corporate equipment, facilities and maintenance personnel.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Adheres to all safety procedures in the performance of job duties.
- Interfaces with other departments to ensure Inter-Branch Transfers, DC Stock Orders and deadlines are met.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet shipment schedules.

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- WMS: Experience with RFs / Manhattan (PKMS) Red Prairie, SAP WM, etc.
- Inventory Control: Experience with RF Cycle Counting, Conducting Physical Inventories
