Position Summary:

  • Housed in our Menomonee Falls Wisconsin Office, the Distribution Center Manager position is a hands-on position for a technically accomplished and innovative individual in large scale distribution operations. Will take a leadership role in warehouse and distribution planning. Leads team in execution in all aspects of Receiving, Put Away, Replenishing and Shipping. Achieves same day order shipment or as major customer programs dictate. Ensures all warehouse product being shipped to customers is accurately accounted for and properly input into US ERP System. Develops team to perform cross-functionally while managing temporary staffing during peak volume periods. Strive to achieve 100% same-day shipment and maintain accurate inventory levels. Attains world class housekeeping standards. Interacts effectively on a daily basis with Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, Outside Suppliers and Executive Management to successfully achieve all strategic plan objectives with emphasis in applying cutting edge solutions to drive efficiency and optimize distribution operations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, develop and implement procedures for property movement, equipment utilization, and inventory management.
  • Responsible for mission compliance to internal controls, results of external and internal audits, inventory accuracy (arrival of truck, offload, stow of receipt, warehousing, inventory, issuance of materiel).
  • Plan, monitor and react to changing workload and resourcing variables, trend performance and understand what is driving sub-standard performance for corrective action.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy through execution of a robust cycle count program and all required inventory transactions including: freight claims, quality write-offs, serial number changes, cycle count adjustments, location moves, etc.
  • Reports on inventory activities, changes and variances, including root cause analysis support
  • Provides clear documentation of root cause analysis and tracking of trends
  • Works cross functionally with Operations to ensure process improvements are implemented and processes are well executed
  • Makes process change recommendations to minimize losses and liability
  • Develops, documents and provides training as required to minimize variances due to picking and put-away errors
  • Develops, documents, maintains, and updates inventory control procedures
  • Provides support to Receiving, Shipping, and Sample Production departments
  • Manages and monitors inventory variance adjustments
  • Provides weekly status reports
  • Develops key performance indicators to establish criteria and metrics by which performance can be measured and tracked
  • Ensure inbound quality inspections are completed per prescribed directives and that appropriate follow up actions are completed timely, accurately, and thoroughly
  • Monitors completion of QA-rework projects and performs routine reviews on status of non-conforming inventory
  • Exhibits a daily hands-on approach to maximize production efficiency through effective item placement, warehouse analysis, and maintaining system related logic and parameters
  • Execute periodic cycle counts, including selection, results summary, issue identification and resolution and communication
  • Periodic testing of inventory valuations, including weighted average costing and LCM evaluation
  • Coordinate and manage the annual physical inventory for the Distribution Center
  • Monitor pallet volume by store in relation to delivery schedule and store capacity constraints
  • Prioritize workflow and communicate priorities effectively
  • Examine work for accuracy, neatness, and timeliness, to conform to policies and procedures
  • Evaluate standards, procedures and processes to improve efficiency of workers
  • Identify workload for all areas of responsibility and reassign associates based on priority
  • Provide direction and leadership in accordance with established policies and procedures while focusing efforts to maximize productivity and safety within the pick area
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with all support areas such as Quality Assurance, IT, HR & Accounting.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Multiple Site / Distribution Management
  • Strong experience in Warehouse & Distribution Operations Planning
  • Strong budget planning and control experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office package.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience utilizing ERP/WMS systems
  • Preferred experience in managing 100,000+ sq. ft. high volume distribution operations.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions and recommendations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics Operations.
