Job Profile Summary:

The Distribution Center Equipment Operator is responsible for a variety of distribution center duties to ensure the accurate and safe shipment of goods to and from the customer. Through this important work, the Distribution Center Equipment Operator provides support to the distribution center in order to achieve customer service, associate engagement, profitability goals and Academy’s Purpose.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent diploma required
Current forklift certification a plus

Work Experiences:
? Previous material handling equipment experience (MHE) preferred
? Radio frequency (RF) scanner and/or voice to pick experience highly preferred Familiarity with pallet jack, forklift, or other industrial vehicles

Skills:
? Must have a “Safety First” mentality
? Ability to receive forklift operator certification
? Inventory management, equipment maintenance, data entry, and basic computer skills required
? Good communication, organizational, time management and mathematical skill
? Able to multi-task and work independently
? Ability to anticipate and make decisions under pressure
? Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks

Responsibilities:
? Responsible for meeting or exceeding accuracy expectations and productivity minimums as directed by Operations management
? Operates safety sensitive and heavy equipment such as, but not limited to, forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks, and flatbed carts in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, or property damage
? Responsible for the assembly of crates /containers and preparing materials for transport by palletizing, wrapping, loading, and moving
? Operates scanners to prepares orders by processing requests; pulling materials; packing boxes and placing orders in the delivery area or trailer

? Performs pre-inspections and post-inspections of all equipment before and after use; performs minor maintenance activities and cleaning of equipment, and reports problems to supervisor
? Ensures security of company assets
? Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times
? Wear the proper safety equipment

DISTRIBUTION CENTER WORKING CONDITIONS: There are routine exposures to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position involves considerable physical exertion.

Other Requirements

Firearms Positions: Requires the handling of ammunition and/or firearms. Extra precaution, safe handling, storage of and transport procedures must be followed to ensure safety and compliance with company policies, local and state laws. All Firearm positions will require successful completion of firearms- specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.

Powered Industrial Truck Positions: Requires the operation of a Powered Industrial Truck that will be used to carry, push, pull, lift, stack or tier materials. Extra precaution, safe truck operation and procedures must be followed to ensure safety and compliance with company policies. Team member must have an active PIT Certification (provided by Academy) in order to operate a Powered Industrial Truck.
