Director/Sr Director Learning & Organizational Development

The Director/Sr Director of Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) is a vital member of the Marinus Pharmaceuticals Human Resources team and is responsible for the design, implementation and coordination with the HR team for programs that may include culture, training & development, performance management, coaching, diversity, equity & inclusion, employee engagement & communications and community relations. The Dir/Sr Dir of L&OD working/coordinating with the areas of talent acquisition, compliance; compensation, benefits, HRIS, employee relations and HR generalists to identify and implement best practices to support the efforts to hire, grow, and retain exemplary talent.

Reporting to the VP of HR, the Dir/Sr Director of L&OD position is an organizational development liaison and advisor to the management personnel to assist maintain and improve a “Best Place to Work” culture and facilitates initiatives across the organization. This position helps to cultivate people, programs and processes for the organization. This position will evaluate tools and processes providing managers the tools to assess and identify capability gaps and opportunities for improvement to enable a culture of high performance. Additionally, to report findings and propose solutions to the HR team and management.

This position is responsible for the development and integration of organization development programs and associated projects to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives; ensuring the involvement of the HR Team, and employees throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring the inclusion of HR Team in all organizational development programs/activities.
  • Leading needs assessment for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the company.
  • Guiding the HR staff to and facilitating communication among employees and management. May guide managers and employees on problem solving and dispute resolution and guide HR team members in managing same.
  • Working with the HR Team to provide expertise in strategy development and execution, planning and facilitation of employee relations efforts.
  • Guiding the planning, implementation and ongoing maintenance of employee relations, equity, diversity & inclusion and communications programs.
  • Determining and where appropriate, designing and developing HR training programs for executives and employees; including, but not limited to learning activities, audio-visual materials, instructor guides and lesson plans.
  • Assessing effectiveness of training in terms of employee accomplishments and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organization Development or related field is required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • A minimum 5 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • A minimum 15 years of progressively responsible Human Resources work experience. Proven track record of leading formal Organization Development interventions at different levels of system, consulting with key stakeholders to assess needs and offer recommendations/solutions to their challenges, and facilitating team performance improvement and change initiative
  • Formal coaching experience required; certification preferred.
  • Experience in project management; consulting experience a plus
  • Knowledgeable about instructional design methodology and application for effective adult learning.
  • Experience leading and coaching cross-functional teams and managing teams of professionals, Executive presence is a must.
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and creatively.
  • High level of proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Exemplary ability to manage multiple tasks using independent judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately in a high-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required based upon business needs.
