About This Role

ALS is a rare, fatal, neurodegenerative disease characterized by the progressive loss of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. The onset of ALS is usually between the ages of 40 to 70 years, with the average age at diagnosis being 55 years. Unfortunately, the typical life expectancy following diagnosis is only 3 to 5 years. Currently, there are no approved therapies that target the genetic underlying cause of ALS. Biogen is committed to furthering ALS research in an effort to bring therapies to people living with this rapidly progressing neurological condition.

You will play a critical role and be a visible leader within the Neuromuscular Marketing Team and the broader U.S. Organization as you lead the U.S. launch efforts for the potential first approved disease-modifying therapy (DMT) for ALS. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for all pre-launch and launch efforts in the U.S., establishing a strategic direction through analysis of insights, and the execution of most initiatives in the U.S. working closely with global teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute the U.S. commercial strategy working closely with medical and global teams
  • Develop U.S. launch strategy that will guide and facilitate the achievement of key business objectives; lead execution and implementation of launch tactical plan including disease state education campaign
  • Lead the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, by applying advanced critical thinking (e.g., patient finding activities)
  • Collaborate with Neuromuscular Disease (NMD) Leadership team to develop and refine go-to marketing model and operating principles
  • Work closely with NMD Medical team to align strategy and ensure coordinated field efforts
  • Utilize customer and marketplace insights to identify, develop, and recommend initiatives that advance the brand
  • Strong ability to negotiate in promotional review committees

Qualifications
  • 12+ years of commercial experience including 5+ years of marketing experience (with at least two years within U.S. market)
  • Launch experience required (rare disease a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in fast-paced environments and influence without authority
  • Strong digital marketing experience
  • Field sales experience a plus
  • Excellent communication/coordination/interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively write and deliver executive presentations
  • Ability to rapidly identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans, and motivate cross-functional teams
