Responsible for all domestic transportation strategies, policies, procedures, operational performance, financial performance, contract negotiations and carrier relations. To direct the planning, development and implementation of Family Dollar domestic transportation programs which encompass inbound and fleet management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Direct all inbound programs to ensure that Family Dollar’s transportation requirements and needs are achieved.
2. Accountable for the Family Dollar transportation inbound budgets and financial performance.
3. Develop corporate logistics policies, procedures and standards of performance.
4. Work closely with Distribution Directors, Replenishment/Allocations, Store Operations and Merchandising to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain.
5. Continual improvement in the company’s transportation cost and level of service provided to the stores, DC’s and merchandising staff.
6. Hire, manage and develop a team of transportation managers and logistics analysts.
7. Negotiate carrier rates and contracts for all domestic carriers.
8. Oversee carrier relationships to ensure that Family Dollar receives optimal service at a competitive cost.
9. Provide strategy thinking, planning and direction of the transportation department to stay ahead of the companies business needs
10. Support the VP, Transportation in terms of analysis and planning to continually improve the logistics network.
