Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of relevant work experience in consulting, software, internet and/or media industries or early stage companies.
  • Experience leading teams, as well as growing and developing talent.
  • Experience leading operational and strategic initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or PhD in management, or a technical or engineering field.
  • 10 years of consulting or equivalent project management experience (ideally for a technology firm).
  • Demonstrated track record of cross-functional stakeholder management and leadership.
  • Distinctive project management, structured problem solving and analysis skills, combined with excellent business judgment and top communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize data into useful formats and produce actionable insights, straddling between details and higher level implications of critical business issues when necessary. Ability to present these findings to executives and communicate with both a highly technical management teams and non-technical cross-functional teams.

As Director, Strategy & Operations for the Databases & Analytics organization, you'll be responsible for developing strategy across a dynamic set of high performing businesses. You will be a catalyst and critical thought partner, helping scale and transform Data Management across all critical functions including Product/Engineering, Sales/Go-To-Market, Partnerships, Marketing, Customer Experience, Customer Success and more!

You will solve problems confidently, be responsible for identifying/driving strategic initiatives, and lead a team of highly effective strategy and operations professionals. Flexing across both strategic and operational efforts, leading the strategy creation process, ensuring effective communication, alignment and execution of the organization’s strategy and roadmap, running special projects and strategic organizational efforts and the overall business cadence is critical in this capacity.

You will be expected to partner effectively with executive leadership across the Data Management organization, their direct reports and cross-functional Cloud and Google partners to set and communicate strategy and decision-making along with the broader organization. To be effective in this role, you must be highly strategic, comfortable with ambiguity and be an exceptional communicator with a bias for action, and an agile and creative problem solver.

You will understand Google’s business and can be a key contributor in a dynamic and high growth environment. Experience partnering with dynamic C-level leaders of complex organizations and aligning on clear operational, organizational and strategic imperatives is important to the success of this role.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the planning and execution of major strategic initiatives across the business, synthesizing major decisions for communication between senior management and the broader organization.
  • Lead the process of defining organization-wide strategies and providing metrics and insights on key business outcomes, driving operational efficiencies, and ensuring the strategic vision is clearly communicated across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Management leadership and cross-functional teams to define organization-wide strategy and gain team alignment, driving the planning and operational business cadence for Data Management (e.g. Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), Headcount management, budget management, planning and monthly business reviews).
  • Create goals/plans for the organization and key stakeholders: opportunity, market context, solution overview, customers segments and benefits, strategic roadmap, competitive assessment, Go-To-Market model, risks/dependencies, etc.
  • Develop, maintain, and update a consistent strategic narrative across all business components.
