Summary
:

The Director of Talent leads the development and implementation across a wide variety of talent acquisition, management and development initiatives within a defined division at Five Star Senior Living. Working as a close strategic partner with operational leaders, Divisional HR Directors, and HR Centers of Excellence to maximize Five Star’s ability to attract and retain the best talent and deliver upon our organizational mission. Partner with other Directors of Talent across the business to collaborate, share ideas and drive consistency. Align with the overarching enterprise-wide HR strategies and programs related to Talent Acquisition, team member engagement and other overarching human capital strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full talent acquisition lifecycle for the division, including sourcing and identifying qualified candidates for key community-based leadership positions including Executive Director and Director of Resident Care positions, conducting interviews to evaluate qualifications, consulting with the hiring manager to influence and present candidates, manage the interview and selection process, present job offers consistent with our compensation strategy, managing acceptance, and monitoring the new hire orientation and onboarding processes.
  • Monitor market trends in the industry and explore new, creative ways of sourcing talent to optimize success by direct sourcing of passive talent, utilizing social media, job boards, advertisement, networking within the Healthcare and/or Hospitality field and aligning with the companies overarching digital recruitment strategy.
  • Proactively engage with the leadership teams to establish a common understanding of Talent Acquisition processes, service level standards and strategies to acquire top talent.
  • Establish standards, tools and processes for local recruitment efforts.
  • Partner closely with the corporate Learning and Development center of excellence team to define and deliver programs that continually hone and develop the competencies of key leadership positions and throughout all roles in the community.
  • Provide ongoing support, development and coaching of Executive Director talent and other community leadership roles
  • Facilitate the establishment of succession planning processes to ensure ongoing talent development and readiness for career pathing.
  • Partner with corporate Human Resources and operational leadership teams to ensure that all people-related programs and goals are effectively implemented and facilitated in the field, using effective communication and change management strategies.
  • Partner with community leadership and corporate human resources on compensation practices and policies, including market benchmark exercise and facilitation.
  • Proactively identify people related programs and policies that will forward Five Star’s overall culture and team member focus in the field and assist on development and delivery of these programs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to operational leadership on the employee engagement survey and action planning process to ensure ongoing high employee engagement and organizational response to team member needs.
  • Provide expert and strategic guidance on employee relations issues including performance management, workplace conflict resolution, team member grievances & complaints and compliance related issues. Partner with Divisional HR Director on team member investigations of a serious nature as well as corporate legal and human resources, as needed, to ensure timely, effective and consistent resolution.
  • Ensure all team member related complaints and grievances are properly entered into our EthicsPoint database, when they are received directly, and document the follow up and resolution within EthicsPoint on direct complaints as well as those that come in from our Governance line.
  • Collaborate with the companies HR leadership, Divisional HR Directors and various HR Centers of Excellence leaders to ensure alignment and consistency of HR best practices, new and ongoing initiatives as well as ongoing HR professional development.
  • Support other people related projects and initiatives as requested and needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, PHR or SPHR preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist leadership experience, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, and talent development.
  • Experience in the Senior Living industry a plus
  • Experience with Behavioral Based Interviewing Techniques are necessary
  • Must have ability to effectively navigate within an Applicant Tracking System and multiple Job Board sites
  • Ability to influence leaders at all levels in and ever changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task and possess strong organization skills
  • Intermediate experience within MS Office, Outlook, and knowledge of OneNote a plus
