  • Responsible for overseeing and directing of the resident care department including medication ordering, set-up and passing medications and scheduling of direct care staff.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of all areas of the direct care department.
  • Reviews systems, MORS, scheduling, financial controls, medical recordkeeping, and reports and generates consultant reports, etc. during the special project period.
  • Ensures the overall organization and safety of the Medication Room, distributing medications and maintaining safety and order of the Medication Room; making sure that Medication Room door is locked at all times and working with the pharmacy to review any medications brought from "home."
  • Maintain ALIS, ensure proper documentation, incident reporting, medication documentation, assessments, care staff assignments.
  • Ensures and meets necessary staffing requirements, reporting any staffing issues to the Executive Director
  • Provides instruction and training to staff regarding department orientation and in-service training.
  • Adheres to the Company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program and consistently performs job duties in accordance with the community's safe work practices
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, policies and procedures of Sonata Senior Living and meets with Quality Services standards.
  • Assists the Program Director in the development of strategies to improve direct care services and performance in the community.
  • Interview potential residents and complete the pre-placement assessments, needs and service plans, obtain medical records and will communicate to all care giving staff any specific instructions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director to fulfill the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the direct care department.
  • On-call for night time emergencies
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities include supervision of direct care staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. COMPANY WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, residents' families, visitors and team members.
  • Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, team member, residence, company information and records.
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
  • Complies with the attendance policy.
  • Complies with the cell phone and social media policies.
  • Maintains neat appearance, good personal hygiene and appropriate attire per company dress code.
  • Participates in training, in services and attends meetings when required.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned and performs other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A TB test result must be received with 7 days of employment. Previous TB test results cannot be older than 6 months; chest x-ray results 2 years. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIESDemonstrated strong leadership skills; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to analyze operational and financial systems and develop written plans; Ability to interface effectively with other departments including Marketing, Quality Services, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities Management, etc… EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training and experience in Certified Nurses Aid procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws (federal and state). Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, residents and families,regulatory agencies, and members of the business community. Ability to write speeches, articles or publications to conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to all levels of team members and public or private groups. Ability to effectively communicate in English. MATHERMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. CERTIFICATES, LINCESES, REGISTRATIONSCurrent Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license. Must carry a valid CPR certificate. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESProficient with MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint, MSOutlook, and other systems knowledge is helpful. Basic typing skills essential.Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with all levels of team members and outside representatives. PHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition requires the ability to stand, reach, bend/stoop/crouch, push/pull/lift/carry up to 50lbs, twisting/ turning and repetitive motion PHYSICAL ABILITIESMust have good vision, hearing and speech WORK ENVIRONMENTPrimarily works in an assisted living residence.
