Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 34-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, social and medical adult day programs and on-site dialysis. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our Certified Home Health Agency, and our soon-to-be-built independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens). Our off-site continuum includes, the Gurwin Licensed Home Care Services Agency which has an office in Farmingdale, NY and Island Nursing and Rehab Center a 120-bed facility located in Holtsville, NY.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and direct the HR team members throughout the Gurwin continuum in all aspects of Human Resources.
- Manage full life cycle of employment including but not limited to; recruitment, onboarding, orientation and training, benefits, employee relations and exit interviews.
- Provide guidance to employees and management on policy interpretation by proactively meeting with staff.
- Ensure all HR files and documentation are maintained in a manner consistent with regulatory compliance/survey preparedness and applicable laws.
- Handle complex employee investigations.
- Responsible for the workers compensation, disability and leave of absence process for the Gurwin healthcare system including return to work program.
- Interprets, communicates, develops and maintains all HR polices and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Involvement in COVID related projects that impact the Gurwin organization.
- Develop strategy and execute plans for recruitment and retention of staff including coordination of employee recognition programs.
- Participate as an active member of various committees including; safety, quality assurance, incident review, infection control, etc.
- Look for opportunities to improve and streamline processes and execute.
- Perform additional related tasks/duties as required and/or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have prior HR supervisory experience (min 5 years) preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and highly detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously
- Possess ability to energize, motivate and foster team building.
- Must be a critical thinker.
- Available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Preferred experience with Ultipro and Cognos.
