The Director of Finance and Underwriting is responsible for managing operations in the consumer finance division. Areas of focus include developing strategies for the optimal performance of the portfolio with respect to credit risk at origination. With $2B in annual vacation ownership interest sales, this role supports credit, sales and finance operations by providing direction on consumer credit policy and underwriting structure. Partners with sales team on new product and financing promotions to meet business objectives. Analyzes the performance of special financing programs for business impact.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct the operational and analytical function of financing and underwriting activities to provide Senior Leadership team with the insight for enacting critical strategic business objectives

  • Prepare and present communication to various stakeholders highlighting opportunities and results for sales, financing promotions and loan performance

  • Coordinate loan origination processes among finance, sales, operations and legal departments

  • Ensure all loans comply with underwriting standards of the organization and regulatory environment in various jurisdictions

  • Collaborate with sales team to design, plan and execute financing promotions to support strategic objectives Implement key performance metrics and determine program profitability and impact to consumer behavior

  • Work directly with business partners to manage internal systems and information related to consumer and loan portfolio

  • Manage relationships with Credit Bureaus to optimize credit score modeling and ensure compliance

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for development of Analysts

Travel Requirements

This position may require travel to non-resident location for meetings with key business partners and/or development conferences (<20%).

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, MIS, or Mathematics from an accredited four-year institution. MBA Preferred.

Competencies

  • Systematic problem solver with strong critical thinking skills

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with senior management and peers

  • Advanced technical skillset including:

    • MS Applications
    • Advance understanding and experience working with relational databases
    • Query and Data Visualizations
    • Financial modeling
    • Consumer behavior predictive modeling
  • Demonstrate success in managing multiple projects within strict deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consumer loan/lease portfolio performance

  • Experience in consumer loan underwriting

  • Understanding of credit analytics and of credit scoring models

Job Experience

  • 7+ years financial reporting and analysis
