POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance and Revenue Cycle will assist the Chief Financial Officer with providing strategic direction for the Finance, Financial Analytics, and Patient Financial Services departments. The Director will ensure financial strategies and processes align and effectively support the achievement of the organization's objectives. The successful candidate will be an eager learner, data-driven, strategic thinker who is confident in their healthcare finance knowledge, leadership abilities, and ability to build relationships across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
- Responsible for coordinating the daily activities related to the planning, implementing, and maintaining all functions pertinent to the Finance, Financial Analytics, and Patient Financial Services departments.
- Responsible for continuous improvement in staff through education, training, and positive enforcement of appropriate working practices.
- Mentor, coach, teach and lead the Finance, Financial Analytics, and Patient Financial Services departments in meeting performance goals.
- Leads, partners, and guides finance team managers to develop, maintain, and update necessary policies and procedures for each department.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, retreats, and community events.
- Undertake special projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Finance
- Leads and partners with Controller in directing the Finance function and team to include financial records and reports, capital and operating budget, cash management, grants management, payroll, accounts payable, contracts, and audit fieldwork & tax preparation with auditors.
Financial Analytics
- Oversees and leads the Senior Financial Analyst and team to include high-value analysis and interpretation of data, financial models, and financial analysis.
Patient Financial Services
- Responsible for leading and directing the Patient Financial Services Manager and team to include an optimal operation of the revenue cycle function, billing, collections, customer services, cash posting, and denial management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of the principles of financial management sufficient to direct financial staff and coordinate all aspects involved with the Center's fiscal requirements.
- Knowledge of financial and budgetary practices to develop an annual budget, analyze financial data and patterns, and prepare financial statements.
- Operational exposure and a general understanding of revenue cycle operations and payor community
- Demonstrated strategic leadership, planning, change management, excellent relational skills, and ability to get things done through teamwork, persuasion, and influence.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to explain complex financial information in ways non-financial people can understand and relate.
- Ability to develop and lead high performing team members, including hiring, goal setting, coaching, performance management, and development
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field
- Minimum of seven (7) years of overall professional experience; ideally more than six (6) years of board financial management and operations experience.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in a supervisor role leading a professional staff
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Experience with EPIC or other EHR systems
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Business, Health Care, Finance or related field
- Certification such as CHFP, CMA/CFM, or CPA designation
- Knowledge of Community Health Centers
