Director of Facilities Planning In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check. The Director of Facilities will report to the Vice President for Administration and CFO. The Director is responsible for maintaining an inviting, clean and accessible campus that welcomes students, faculty, employees, and the community. As a member of College leadership, the Director will serve as a key strategist, proactively establishing and implementing changes to standards and procedures that enhance the quality and delivery of services to ensure the department is meeting its goals and evolving to meet the changing needs of the College community and moving in a direction that is consistent with the mission of the College. The Director will exercise a high level of independent judgment and self-direction to identify and lead new initiatives that focus on unit objectives and their alignment with the College’s strategic plan. Qualifications for Employment: Professional Engineering License and at least seven (7) years of experience in facilities systems, maintenance, project management with five (5) years of supervisory experience required. A working knowledge of Federal and state (New York preferred) safety laws and building codes, general construction, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and an understanding of the challenges and functions of a large complex facility with the ability to review and evaluate project drawings and specifications, strong interpersonal skills to be able to successfully interact with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, and strong problem-solving and prioritization skills also required. Knowledge of a wide range of trades and the necessary building codes/requirements for a facility used for instruction of trades such as: Automotive, Advanced Manufacturing, Welding, HVAC, Electrical Technologies and other related trades, and experience working in an educational institution with multi-trades and labor union(s) is preferred. Experience working at a community college is highly desirable The Director of Facilities Planning reports to the Vice President for Administration and CFO, and performs the following duties: Salary is commensurate with experience.
