Responsibilities: We are currently seeking a Director of Engineering at our Fairburn, GA facility. The Director of Engineering at Porex will lead the engineering team and will be responsible for all aspects of the facility and manufacturing asset reliability, operational efficiency and continuous improvement. In addition, this position is responsible for EHS and to initiate, design, develop, optimize and problem solve manufacturing and supporting processes, including TPM, OEE and people development. The Director of Engineering will report to the Managing Director and serve on the plant leadership team.
- Leadership of at least seven direct reports to include development and coaching of those personnel.
- Associate Development: Assist in the development of others in the area of his/her expertise, while demonstrating an understanding of those with a diverse background or experience.
- Safety: Support implementation of the loss control improvement process by compliance with critical safety rules. Visibly demonstrate that safety is a value by following safety procedures, maintaining a safe workplace and complying with safety rules. Develop equipment, processes and products that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Actively participate in achieving organization and personal safety objectives. Follow the Safety Roles and Responsibilities Matrix by holding yourself and all team members accountable.
- Quality: Improve process capability to deliver a reduction in defects and variability. Identify, develop, and implement products, processes, materials, systems, and procedures to achieve business objectives and drive continuous improvement.
- Development of strategic plan for plant and departmental development including 5 year capital plan to enable continuous improvement of the facility as a whole.
- Functions as project manager and implementer for process related capital improvement projects.
- Practice continuous improvement strategies while continually monitoring production activities (rates & yields) and support services in order to increase productivity and product quality while reducing waste.
- Solicit and provide ideas for the elimination of waste, continuous improvement and defect prevention.
- Initialize or provide input for part production instruction changes or updates.
- Develop/update procedures/training documents.
- Design and Development: Initiate, design, develop and optimize manufacturing assets and supporting processes
- Technical Knowledge: Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an implementer of engineering principles and /or scientific analysis in meeting objectives.
- Security and Documentation: Maintain security and documentation to ensure the retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information.
- Strong problem-solving skills particularly in use of DMAIC and Lean Six Sigma tools
- Strong Communication skills to effectively interface with internal and external customers.

- Provide support via root cause investigation and development of corrective action, implementation of resolution to quality issues, productivity improvement and waste reduction.

- Initiate creative and practical designs which drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
- Allen Bradley PLC programming, automation and machine logic experience.
- Working familiarity with ladder logic and ability to troubleshoot non-standard problems and independently develop robust solutions and debugging code.
- Creation and maintenance/upgrade of RSView SCADA systems.
Education/Experience
- Minimum BS in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry.
- Previous experience with polyethylene sintering processes, systems and manufacturing highly preferred.
- Previous experience with Lean and Six Sigma – LSSBB preferred
- Previous Operational Leadership is essential
- Authorized to work in the US (no sponsorships)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work across all levels of the organization
- Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Minitab proficiency preferred
- Relocation a must
