POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Construction and Plant Operations supervises all construction projects and maintenance to insure a safe and efficient physical plant on a twenty-four hour, seven days a week basis. In conjunction with the Chief of Staff, the Director of Construction and Plant Operations directs all new construction projects and oversees major projects for remodeling, maintaining, and improving the physical plant and grounds. The Director of Construction and Grounds coordinates the use of parish facilities, furnishings, and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and oversee contracted services for grounds keeping, pest control, custodial and any other maintenance-related services.
Plan and schedule routine and preventive equipment and appliance maintenance according to warranty / manufacturer specifications and safety considerations.
Recruit, train, schedule and manage all maintenance staff.
Implement electronic work order system for parish and school maintenance
Instructs maintenance staff on safety standards, new maintenance procedures, practices & materials.
Prepare budgets for each maintenance project following financial department procedures to obtain materials, labor and equipment as needed.
Maintain work center for maintenance activities and secure control of materials providing a system to track inventory usage by project.
Maintain file system for all contracts, blue prints, equipment warranties and service manuals.
Coordinate procedures for church staff to report maintenance requests and emergencies to Maintenance Department in a timely manner through the use of an electronic order system.
Develop procedures for after duty hours emergencies including holidays and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Proven management skills on $1M and larger construction projects.
Previous maintenance experience.
Previous supervisory experience in maintenance
Knowledge of maintenance in the fields of carpentry, electrical work, cement work, plumbing, sanitation, mechanics, locksmithing, air conditioning, grounds maintenance and janitorial care.
Ability to understand a variety of technical subjects relating to construction and maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to prepare and implement budgets.
Familiarity with church and school environments.
Ability to work with a variety of constituents including children.
