JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive and integrated strategy to increase major gifts from individuals, foundations, and grantors, and support all leadership giving efforts to ensure the ongoing innovation and growth of TUW.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Essential Function 1: Fundraising and Engagement:
    • Create and implement annual plans with strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donor prospects in the pursuit of Tocqueville donors, legacy giving donors, and transformational 6 and 7 figure gift donors to contribute to the organization achieving its revenue goals as approved by the Board of Directors
    • Create comprehensive individual prospect plans and gift proposals to support unrestricted, restricted, endowment and legacy giving fundraising goals
    • Create tracking and metrics to demonstrate progress of uniform prospecting, recruitment, recognition, engagement and stewardship strategies for individual advancement
    • Work with the Vice President of Advancement, the Director of Corporate Partnerships and the Director of Strategy and Innovation to implement the overarching donor stewardship plan that includes reporting, recognition, relationship building activities (engagement) and communications for individual and corporate donors at all giving levels, both inside and outside the workplace

Essential Function 2: Manage and Support Volunteers :
    • Assist lead Advancement volunteers in the recruitment, training and development of volunteer committees and cabinets as necessary to encourage volunteer support in the cultivation and solicitation of donors
    • Provide on-going support for Advancement volunteers participating in cabinets, committees and other areas as needed. Conduct meetings with volunteers on a regular basis to assess progress
    • Provide direction and support to Advancement committees. Assist in setting goals, task identification, motivational ideas, timetables and schedules for responsibility areas, recognition, and reporting
    • Participate in the identification, recruitment, orientation, and training of other organizational TUW volunteers

Essential Function 3: Advancement Staff Management:
    • Provide overall strategy, supervision, coaching, and support for an Advancement Officer as they create and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward transactional Tocqueville, Palmetto and Friends donors outside of workplace campaigns to contribute to the organization achieving its revenue goal
    • Provide overall strategy, supervision, coaching, and support for an Advancement Officer as they oversee and collaborate with Communications on new direct mail and digital giving strategies to create and strengthen a pipeline of individual donors to Trident United Way
    • Provide overall strategy, supervision, coaching, and support for an Advancement Officer as they oversee the Women United donor network
    • Work with the entire Advancement division to monitor budget expenditures, and help develop and implement department-wide best practices and effective systems for donor centric fundraising


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Aggressively pursue higher end prospective donors with great diplomacy and tact
    • Research to identify and grow gift prospects
    • Input, track, and monitor donor touchpoints, gifts and accomplishments through CRM database and prepare required reports.
    • Represent Trident United Way at community functions.
    • Work closely with the Advancement team to ensure continuity and consistent messaging.
    • Collaborate with CFO and finance department to create best practices in gift processing and financial opportunities for donors to create excellent donor experiences.
    • Identify and document new and lapsed donors for timely information and data about key decisions makers.
    • Promote the spirit of volunteerism and the principles of Trident United Way fundraising and fund distribution through personal contacts with volunteer leadership, community members, and company representatives.
    • Function as an integral member of the Advancement team assisting with planning, solicitation, implementation and evaluation of campaign processes.
    • Participate as a champion, project lead, and/or member of organizational development teams as required.
    • Participate in and support divisional program teams, as assigned, which may include temporary campaign staff and the Campaign Specialist program, Employee Campaign Coordinator Training, Awards Programs, as well as other special projects and events.
    • Work outside normal office hours when required to include evenings or weekends and additional hours as needed.
    • Complete CRM training as appropriate when offered

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Experience:
    • 7 years of previous fundraising experience, or 10-15 years of related experience (business or sales)
    • 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
    • Proven track record of soliciting and securing individual gifts
    • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with ability to recruit, engage, lead, motivate, train, and manage a diverse team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB:

    • Most of time spent sitting at desk
    • Communicates with constituents, staff, volunteers, board members and/or partners by phone and in person
    • Upon request and as necessary to fulfill job functions, may have to be mobile within the office and or travel to offsite locations

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    • Primarily works in a climate-controlled office-based setting.
