Requirements

The Director of MBA Admissions, Diversity and Partnerships position in the McDonough School of Business will manage the recruitment and events strategy in order to recruit high quality potential students to the Full-time and Flex MBA programs. The Director oversees on- and off-campus major events, including, but not limited to, admissions presentations/information sessions, diversity events, admitted student weekend events, Flex Preview Days, fairs, and virtual events. This position will serve in a business development role to both manage current external partnerships (e.g. Forte, Consortium, MLT, Peace Corps, ROMBA, Prospanica, JumpStart) and work to develop new partnerships (e.g. corporate, embassies, nonprofits, professional associations) in order to build our pipeline of competitive MBA applicants. The Director will be the main point of contact developing new and maintaining current diversity recruitment responsibilities and will oversee the marketing tactics as it relates to promoting events and will work with the Associate Dean and Director of Marketing to determine how this fit into the overall marketing strategy.

The Director also serves as a senior member of the MBA Admissions Committee admission; in this role, they analyze and synthesize a large amount of often conflicting data (including undergraduate transcript, test scores, professional history, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, essays, and interview report) in an effort to recruit, yield, and retain a competitive and diverse class for admission to the MBA program.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of MBA Admissions, the director will directly supervise the Events and Marketing Coordinator and an Assistant Director of Admissions responsible for student and alumni engagement. The Director will be externally facing and serve as the point of contact for our external partnerships (both new and old). Primary duties of the Director, MBA Recruitment, Partnerships and Diversity Inclusion are but not limited to:

Recruitment, Event Planning and Budget Oversight

Manage the organization, communication and execution of recruitment events in an effort to increase the application pool and competitiveness of the incoming MBA class. Coordinate with members of the McDonough community for planning and execution of the events.

Manages the recruitment, yield, and retention strategies for the Full-time and Flex MBA program. Manages ad-hoc recruitment strategies as needed in response to the market.

Focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of each event by analyzing the number of attendees, costs, and ultimate return on investment in the event. Work with the Associate Director of Marketing Automation and Assistant Director of MBA Admissions to develop reporting within Marketo that allows us to identify effectiveness and CPA of events.

Provide summary of all events to Associate Deans for evaluation.

Manage the recruitment/events and alumni/ student engagement budgets, with input from the Associate Dean and Director of MBA Operations, including, but not limited to: Focus on Diversity, On- and Off-Campus Presentations, Welcome Weekend Events and global interviews.

Serves as key point of contact for internal Centers and Initiatives (e.g. Real Estate and Entrepreneurship) to develop marketing and recruitment plans in conjunction with the Interim Associate Dean and Director of Marketing.

Manage team member who oversees Experience Georgetown program; select and schedule courses per module for prospective student class visits through consultation with faculty; analyze current student feedback on core and elective courses to choose appropriate classes/faculty to visit on-campus.

Marketing and Recruiting

Provides recommendations to the Associate Dean and Director of Marketing to refine recruitment opportunities through the identification of major market segments and assists in developing strategies to accomplish stated recruitment goals.

Conducts benchmarking analysis of peer and competitor MBA programs.

Responsible for overseeing the marketing of events to include the email, organic social media, partnership advertising of our events.

Provides event-related inbound marketing (i.e. social media and blog) guidance, in collaboration with Associate Dean.

Represents the MBA Program at national and international student recruitment events; meets with and advises prospective students about the MBA application process and MBA Program

Interviews candidates in selected cities throughout the world to increase Georgetown MBA Program visibility and attract higher quality applicants

Manages weekly MarComm meetings, analyzes current event attendance, sets strategy, and makes recommendations on increased marketing for events if attendance is low

Application review and evaluation

Evaluates MBA applications and makes final decisions as a senior member of the Graduate Admissions Committee. Analyzes and synthesizes a large amount of often conflicting data (including undergraduate transcript, test scores, professional history, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, essays, and interview report), in an effort to select the best applicants for admission to the MBA program.

Conducts evaluative, personal interviews with applicants in order to assess their suitability for the Georgetown MBA program.

As Admissions Advisor, responds to routine and non-routine inquiries from applicants concerning their application process, decision notification, financial aid information, visa requirements, conditions and program requirements.

External outreach and diversity partnership lead

Serve in a business development role to both manage current external partnerships (e.g. Forte, Consortium, MLT, Peace Corps, ROMBA, Prospanica) and work to develop new partnerships (e.g. corporate, embassies, nonprofits, professional associations) in order to build our pipeline of competitive MBA applicants.

The main point of contact for increasing and enhancing our diversity recruitment responsibilities to include developing new tactics and strategies that specifically focus on and target underrepresented minorities, women, military, and LGBT candidates.

Seek to establish new relationships with diversity-focused organizations.

Liaison with our current student diversity organizations as it relates to diversity recruitment.

Management of MBA student and alumni engagement

Manage staff member who will recruit, select, train and supervise 8-10 MBA student ambassadors to fulfill admissions office responsibilities including implementation of campus visits program for prospective students.

Manage staff member who will recruit, select, train and supervise admissions 50-60 student volunteers to be class hosts, and coffee chat hosts; manages student volunteers to plan and execute targeted recruitment events

Manage staff member who will execute closing teams and phone call campaigns to admitted applicants; coordinate with student organization leaders and alumni to make contact with admitted candidates and assist with increasing yield.

Manages the staff member who secures alumni and current students for recruitment and yield/retention events (locally and nationally); and uses Salesforce/Marketo to track attendance, build reports, and send invitation and thank you emails for alumni.

Manages the staff member who coordinates marketing of and engagement with the Refer-a-Hoya program and coordinates the recruitment and solicitation of MBA Admissions Alumni Ambassadors.

Department Planning

Collaborate on the overall strategic plan and team management for the Georgetown MBA Admissions team. Ensure team morale is high and work with the Associate Dean on larger staffing decisions and team management.

Member of MBA Senior Staff Committee

Member of MBA Alumni Advisory Council Subcommittees as appropriate.

Works on special programs/projects as assigned.

Attends classes that will enhance expertise in job areas.

Creates a development plan for direct and indirect reports.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required. A graduate degree related to business or marketing, marketing or events related experience and supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
At least 7-9 years of experience within a corporate or university setting.
Extremely strong interpersonal abilities and strong team orientation required.
Must be able to work with various constituencies including prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
Must be able to think strategically in the delivery of programs and services.
Substantial working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Comfort with working in excel, analyzing data and managing budgets is a plus.
Previous experience with Salesforce and Marketo a plus, but training can be provided on the job.
Weekend and evening events and international and domestic travel required.
