Who You Are
The Director Vaccines IA Training & Education is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for the regulated Good Practices (a.k.a. GXP), Aseptic and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) training programs within Vaccines Industrial Affairs (VIA), Commercial Operations and R&D, as well as providing oversight for the Security Training Program at the Swiftwater (SWR) site.
The incumbent is responsible for strategy, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the GXP, Aseptic and HSE training programs in order to enable site personnel to perform their jobs effectively. The role also provides leadership to the VIA Training and Education (T&E) staff including 3-5 direct reports and 15-20 indirect reports who support both VIA-GXP and site-wide HSE training programs at the Swiftwater site.

Where We Are
Swiftwater is located in Monroe county, Pennsylvania about 90 miles west of New York and less than 12 miles from the New Jersey Border, the Swiftwater site is Sanofi Pasteur’s US headquarters shared by Commercial Operations, R&D, Regulatory Affairs and the Industrial Operation teams. The 500-plus acre campus consists of 40 buildings and 14 modular buildings, housing more than 2,900 employees, including nearly 1,650 employees in Industrial Operations. The Site is located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, affordable Northeastern Pennsylvania with convenient highway access.
Job Highlights
- Designs and periodically revisits the Site Strategy for Training & Education, according to the Site strategical and tactical needs and considering the directions provided by Global /Corporate bodies like Sanofi Pasteur Quality Academy (SPQA) and others.
- Lead and oversee the VIA-GXP and HSE Training Programs to support the development and implementation of the strategic and tactical plans for training and performance improvement. Ensure the VIA-GXP and Site HSE Training Programs are robust and effective. Provide Security Training Program oversight.
- Responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for VIA T&E staff: provide individual coaching and development and ensure consistency of training program development. Provide resources needed to ensure successful Instructional Design (ID) and delivery of training programs. This includes but is not limited to the implementation, maintenance and/or improvement of the necessary systems. Also oversee the activities of the VIA Training Coordinators’ from the factories and monitor their development.
- Influence VIA senior management decision-making and/or resource allocation through the presentation of data-driven reports on training activities and efforts; drive the analysis of current and potential training programs to determine their effectiveness and efficiency (e.g.: impact on business objectives/needs, employee satisfaction, benefit/cost ratio, etc.).
- In collaboration with the Deputy Director VIA Training, Deputy Director Training Systems, and/or other VIA leadership as applicable, develop and disseminate key training communications within the company and to external sites/partners, including strategies, plan, delivery, risks and mitigations.
- Strives for continuous improvement and take initiatives to recommend/develop innovative approaches to training strategies, tactics, and projects. As needed, interact with Global IA, HSE and other training affiliates
- Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to internal and external audiences including senior leadership. Represent VIA T&E in the Sanofi Pasteur Quality Academy (SPQA) community of practice, and the North America (NA) Strategic Learning Council.
- Support the training program at remote sites (Pearl River, NY and Meriden, CT).
- Manage business activities associated with the Training Budget and the annual performance and professional development of all Department Leaders and their Staffs.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with global regulatory agencies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business - Advanced degree in Education preferred (M.Sc., Ph.D., etc.)
- 10 years of training/education experience in a manufacturing and/or quality floor operations environment
- 7 years of experience in a cGMP regulated environment including knowledge and experience with biotech/pharmaceutical regulatory expectations and inspections
- 5 years of leadership experience with demonstrated success in developing effective, competency-based technical training, and education programs and platforms
- 5 years of experience leading teams of 5+ reports
- 3 years of experience in instructional design and/or e-Learning content design
- 3 years of experience in learning measurement and evaluation

- Shop floor supervisory experience

- The candidate will work first shift primarily but supports a 24/7 Manufacturing site and requires flexible hours.
