Reports To: VP, Global Loss Prevention, Security & Safety
Location: Whittier, California Distribution Center
The Director, Global Distribution Safety & Security is responsible for the leadership of all safety and security programs and the development of tools and techniques to maintain a safe and secure working environment in the Michael Kors distribution centers worldwide. These facilities are located in Whittier, California, Montreal, Quebec, and Venlo, Netherlands.
Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and continually improve all aspects of distribution safety programs.
- Lead and continually improve all aspects of distribution security programs.
- Supervise Security Manager, Security Supervisor, Safety Supervisors and contract guard force.
- Foster and develop functional partnerships with industry and law enforcement cargo theft resources.
- Maintain and monitor all security equipment to include but not limited to burglar/fire alarm, security camera, and access control systems, lock and key control, and other physical security programs.
- Seek and propose new technologies and equipment.
- Actively support and participate in company sponsored programs and events, task force groups and serve as chairperson of various committees, if needed.
- Communicate security and safety status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols to appropriate stakeholders.
- Work closely with Distribution Operations to train and develop Distribution Leadership in all areas of distribution safety and security.
- Work with national pool point partners and support the retail field loss prevention efforts globally regarding resolution of carton receiving discrepancies.
- Initiate and coordinate internal and external theft investigations and successfully bring to conclusion.
- Liaise with local Law Enforcement partners and peer Security Departments in the pursuit of internal and external case resolution and industry best practices.
- Develop and execute proper case management.
- Manage the execution of capital and expense purchases within budgetary guidelines.
- Help foster a culture of honesty through positive informative communications and messaging.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Work Relationships
- Build and maintain good relationships with all levels of corporate leadership, vendors of choice and civic partners.
Qualifications:
- College degree desired, preferably in Environmental Safety discipline
- Safety Certifications preferred
- OSHA experience preferred
- Must have a working knowledge of security equipment, policies and procedures
- Minimum 5 years general Safety/Security/Loss Prevention leadership experience
- Certified in Wicklander-Zulawski interview and interrogation techniques, with a minimum 5 years experience in Interview and Interrogation techniques with full knowledge of all applicable laws.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
