What we do

The group originates, structures, and distributes cross-asset solutions for our investor and issuer clients across a range of asset classes. We aim to understand the inherent drivers of our client's business to structure tailored solutions that solve their issues by utilizing capital markets and banking products. The group works closely with internal stakeholders such as sales, trading, transaction banking, commercial banking and has developed several innovative transactions given the group's unique perspective and connectivity. Given the strategic nature of our transactions, we work with a range of touch points at our clients, including Chief Investment Officers, Heads of Fixed Income and Portfolio Management, Treasurers and Chief Risk Officers.


Job Summary & Responsibilities

The candidate will work closely with the sales and trading teams to create solutions to complex or unique client problems. The new hire will be an integral part of the transaction process involved from initial identification of client opportunities and pitching for transactions through to final deal execution. The candidate will be involved in the various workstreams of the trade including analysis, documentation, legal, capital, booking, and systems, across various products.
This role entails working with a range of clients, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and other institutional clients to gain various exposures via indexes, total return swaps, structured products, and a variety of other cross-asset tools.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Developing solutions or helping generate structured trades by leveraging knowledge of clients’ investment needs, regulatory changes, accounting constraints, and capital goals of the client base. Comfortable employing structured notes, structured finance, investable indexes, hedging overlays, and LDI strategies in their approach.
  • Understanding the range of structured financing products - securitization, loans, repurchase agreements, total return swaps, index swaps, other derivatives - and how they can be utilized to help our client's businesses.
  • Developing written communication materials - business plans, pitchbooks, term sheets, investment memos, and other key materials required to market and execute transactions.
  • Generating flow by identifying portfolio trades or investment rebalancing events while working extensively with the sales and research teams.
  • Comfortable interacting with senior level relationships with accounts.
  • Strong collaboration with key partners across Global Banking & Markets, including helping to define client strategy and market the products mentioned above.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:

  • Five years of work experience, including at least two in a related field (preferably structuring, structured sales or financing)
  • Existing relationships across the institutional investor landscape
  • University Education is required
  • CFA, MBA or graduate work is an asset
  • Series 7 and 63 is an asset
  • A strong understanding of asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds and other institutional investors
  • Ability to step comfortably into client negotiations day 1 is required
  • Strong communication skills, work ethic, attention to detail and team-oriented mentality
  • Resilience across lengthy negotiations and patience with long lead-time marketing
