MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is to preserve and perpetuate its collection of historic transportation equipment, artifacts and archives and utilize the collection and other resources to provide an unparalleled immersive experience that brings the technology and culture of the Trolley Era alive through entertaining, educational and diverse programming. CORE VALUES: Customer First Orientation: Teamwork & Collaboration: Effective Communication & Listening: Proactive Leadership: Respect: Trust: DEFINITIONS: The following are definitions of terms used in this Position Description: Facilities refers to the Museum’s buildings, support structures and infrastructure including, but not limited, to interior and exterior areas. The scope of this term is all of the Museum’s facilities with the exception of facilities that are specifically assigned to another Museum department or manager. Projects refers to activities to enhance, maintain, modify or replace the Museum’s facilities. The scope of this term is all of the Museum’s projects relating to facilities as assigned. Operations refers to all aspects of the Museum’s trolley operations and volunteers, staff and other resources that support these operations. Safety refers to the Museum’s efforts to: GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Director of Facilities and Operations (the Director) will be responsible for managing and participating in the Museums efforts in relation to facilities, facilities management, operations, safety and education/job training relating to facilities and technology. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The specific scope, goals, objectives, and evaluation criteria in relation to the duties and responsibilities of the position during any time period will be identified in a Work Plan to be developed jointly by the Director and the Museum’s Executive Director. Projects to be assigned by the Executive Director. In relation to facilities and projects, the Director is responsible for the planning, management, and evaluation of the Museum’s efforts to maintain its facilities and perform Projects in relation to these facilities. The following applies to this responsibility: In relation to operations: In relation to the safety, In relation to the Museum’s education and job training programs in the areas of technology, facilities, and facilities management, the Director will: In relation to staff hired to support the Museum’s facilities or operations In relation to materials such as exhibits and special event sets that support the Museum’s Visitor Experience In relation to fiscal management: In relation to reporting and communication In relation to strategic planning Perform other duties that are consistent with the position. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS: POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIREMENTS TO BE HIRED AND TO MAINTAIN THE POSITION: 1. Obtain and maintain the appropriate background check clearances as defined in the Museum’s policy for Volunteer and Employee Background Checks. 2. Provide own uniform and/or other appropriate clothing and equipment. 3. Be able to work at locations other than the Museum, when necessary, to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
