The Director, Digital Marketing Operations is responsible for building and leading a strong marketing operations, web and analytics team focused on providing best-in-class execution of digital strategy and tactics for Thermo Fisher Patheon CDMO services through a clearly defined marketing technology, workflow and analytics ecosystem. The Director will define the marketing tech stack, drive web-based strategies aimed at increasing lead conversion rates, analyze lead workflow, deliver key insights and recommendations that optimize the performance of marketing programs, campaigns, web experience. Provides on-going leadership, development and mentorship to the marketing ops team.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background of the CDMO space combined with strong marketing operations, technology and business acumen, ability to influence a matrix-organization, and be up to date on and able to apply the latest digital marketing technology and data science trends to deliver exponential growth.

  • Leads the planning, budgeting, and forecasting of the marketing operations department and manages marketing automation systems, web content management, programming and reporting platforms, immersive technologies, SEO, SEM and reporting tools, for the purpose of generating/reporting on leads, customer buyer behavior and predictive analytics that improve the customer experience and accelerate the sales cycle
  • Establishes and maintains scalable processes that guarantee best practices in lead, campaign management, program development, predictive analytics, web/web-based applications and reporting platforms; ensures compliance with regulatory and privacy policies
  • Ensures monitoring and maintenance of data quality in the marketing database; analyzes gaps in the business’s data, customer acquisition/penetration strategies, and data quality practices; makes recommendations for improvements
  • Contributes to overall marketing strategy and direction by assessing the market for new practices and technologies that will improve and optimize the marketing department’s performance/gives the business a competitive advantage over other players in the market
  • Defines key marketing metrics (KPIs), analysis, reports, visualization, tools, that communicate marketing initiatives, business impact, and effectiveness; makes recommendations to VP Marketing for improvements
  • Responsible for running monthly/quarterly/annual marketing KPI reviews, program ROI and communicating actional insights to drive scalable, high performance
  • Responsible for the life cycle management of the marketing operations team, including selection, development and retention
  • Coordinates with VP Marketing, and Finance for annual operating plan (AOP) and marketing program budget allocation, in alignment with BU revenue targets and new business sales targets. Manages and adheres to AOP marketing budget as assigned
  • Supports a learning culture of continuous improvement by identifying and actively participating in and/or leading process improvement and change management initiatives as requested
  • Assists in vendor selection and management that contribute to marketing program effectiveness; manages vendors and holds them accountable for high quality deliverables on time and budget; optimizes/negotiates budget and contracts as assigned
  • Manages a variety of simultaneous marketing projects autonomously, in a fast-paced environment, adhering to timelines while working efficiently and closely with team members, marketing leadership, data science/IT and key stakeholders
  • Exhibits outstanding presentation, communication skills, with the ability to distill technical and data-rich information into actionable insights that improve performance
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or other business-related field required. MBA preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years corporate marketing operations experience, preferably in a contract drug manufacturing, contract research organization, pharmaceutical, healthcare or other technical field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Marketing Operations at the senior level. Ability to influence across the organization at all levels, including previous experience in a highly matrixed, global organization
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and knowledge of marketing automation systems (ie Marketo or Eloqua), web content management systems (WordPress, SiteCore or equivalent), Sales Force, Google platforms, social ads
  • Proven experience translating complex technical information into clear, concise and compelling communications and reports that inspire action
  • Experienced at implementing process improvements/workflows; Effective at trouble shooting and problem solving
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment supporting multiple stakeholder groups simultaneously
  • Leverage data, analytics and strategic mind-set in all aspects of running the marketing operations aspect of the business. Experience in customer acquisition and retention strategies desirable
  • Highly organized with ability to accomplish individual and team goals through effective project management skills and data-driven decisions. Ability to meet aggressive deadlines by managing resources and prioritizing high-impact activities effectively
  • Positive, energetic attitude and initiative with strong work ethic and ability to implement change management initiatives as required
