Role Summary:

This position will provide pragmatic advice and counsel in a timely and responsive manner to the Company’s corporate functions, including IT, Supply Chain, and Real Estate. The position will work directly with Flowserve’s CIO and VP, Supply Chain, as well as other key corporate functions executives. All legal issues for the corporate functions will be managed by this position, such as contracts, vendor disputes, etc. The position is a member of the Corporate and Commercial Law team.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as lead counsel to the corporate functions, providing frontline counsel and legal services to support and maximize business opportunities, while minimizing risk

  • Drafting and negotiating complex contracts and other commercial agreements, including technology contracts, software license and SaaS agreements, real estate agreements, distributor and third-party agent agreements, and supplier contracts

  • Evaluating and assessing domestic and global legal policies and processes unique to the corporate functions, identify gaps, and creating/implementing differentiated programs to take the legal function and Company to the next level

  • Providing risk management and dispute resolution services for initial contract disputes

  • Partnering with the business for business-focused solutions that manage risk

  • Developing trusted partner relationships with stakeholders

  • Driving & supporting designated projects & workplace initiatives

  • Developing & delivering training programs

  • Managing outside counsel activities and budget

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience handling large, complex contracts, technology agreements, master supply agreements and other commercial agreements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited university

  • Must be admitted, active, and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including ability to communicate complex information in a short, easy-to-understand format

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a friendly and professional demeanor, cooperative partnership approach, and an ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment with people of many countries and cultures, and at all levels of the organization

  • Highly organized self-starter proficient at multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Have a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving

  • Ability to timely and effectively counsel internal clients by providing them with clear, concise, and practical advice, and creative solutions when necessary

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and other applications
