But together with world-class physicians, scientists, and researchers, we work tirelessly to give every patient the options they deserve to #BeCourageous in the face of cancer.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re hiring a healthcare-savvy Innovation Strategy Manager to propel forward the efforts of Moffitt’s quickly evolving Digital Innovation Hub. Analytical, action-oriented, and laser-focused on impact, you’ll drive innovation efforts from idea to implementation in order to drastically improve cancer care and patient outcomes.

Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the Innovation Strategy Manager will be instrumental for enabling innovation activities in the hospital setting. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about playing a role in transforming the digital health landscape—and ultra-motivated to make a real difference by managing a variety of initiatives that will move the needle at Moffitt and beyond.

You’re a strategic thinker whose gears are constantly churning to identify and close on the right innovation opportunities – both internal and external – to drive strategic value for the organization. You’re comfortable playing in the early, sometimes chaotic front-end of innovation – you know a promising opportunity when you see one and can put together the plan necessary to execute and realize its impact. The Innovation Strategy Manager will manage a portfolio of innovation initiatives, working across multiple teams within a matrixed organization to support clinical and research innovation, commercialization, and industry collaboration efforts. This role is heavy on influence and light on authority, serving often as a bridge between various groups to accomplish a goal.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of our team, you will focus on three key areas…

Strategy and Planning: A strategic thinker, you can identify gaps, capture emerging opportunities, and support expansion/execution of digital health strategy through new programs and partnership activities

  • Lead digital health business proposal development and craft execution plans for highest value opportunities
  • Maintain an overview of market trends, emerging technologies, and unmet organizational needs; provide thought leadership for key digital initiatives and create succinct, compelling material to ensure clear communication across the enterprise
  • Support development of go-to-market approaches and cultivation of partnerships with external organizations for pursuing a full range of collaboration opportunities from licensing to co-development, joint ventures, and sponsored research
  • Manage an active portfolio of projects that can demonstrate Moffitt’s competitive advantage as the best institution to work with, the best organized to advance innovation, and the best at supporting innovators and industry partners

Program and Pipeline Management: A seasoned program manager with a knack for change management, you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and develop, manage, and implement ideas and initiatives

  • Balance competing priorities and quarterback complex digital initiatives (involving research, co-development, validation pilots, startup engagement etc.) across projects, operations, and partners
  • Introduce and enable change effectively, securing stakeholder buy-in and support as appropriate to facilitate the development and use of digital products/services, and ensuring that products are innovatively driven and responsive to customer needs
  • Support the development of programs, tools, roadmaps, and protocols to operationalize ideas into digital health interventions, proactively identify roadblocks to delivery, and advance projects toward key milestones in an efficient and compliant way
  • Help facilitate and continuously improve the core processes for managing innovation project portfolio and driving team collaboration; track and report on KPIs, communicating momentum of projects and value gained from programs with regular updates and project briefs

Fostering Entrepreneurship: You’re energized by engaging the internal and external innovation ecosystem—and even if you’re not already following the latest startups and ideas (which you probably are), you’re eager to learn how those might impact our strategic goals

  • Cultivate a community and culture of innovation by continuously getting to know Moffitt clinicians, scientists, leaders, and industry experts. Learn about their ideas, challenges, and ask the question – What are you innovating?
  • Manage a portfolio of services, including but not limited to ideation, coaching, pitch crafting, prototyping, market analysis, pilot readiness etc. to catalyze the advancement of early-stage ideas and concepts
  • Execute programs such as accelerators, hackathons, shark tanks, and crowdsourcing campaigns to nurture a pipeline of high-growth startups with programming and mentoring, while aligning strategic value between the organization and participants
  • Play a key role in the development and implementation of innovation tools workshops and events (e.g., value proposition, jobs to be done, Go-To Market Strategy, Risk Assessment etc.)

KEY COMPETENCIES

You are a good fit because you demonstrate.

  • Builder’s Attitude: You are resourceful, innovative, and passionate about building and nurturing innovation ecosystems.
  • Optimism: You see opportunities more often than problems.
  • Love for Networking: A natural networker, you thrive on developing relationships and making connections among people, ideas, and organizations.
  • Ninja-like Multi-Tasking: You can manage multiple efforts and projects simultaneously and transparently, ensuring that all internal and external stakeholders understand the goals and deliverables.
  • Organization and Execution: You are organized and execution-oriented—which helps you both facilitate strategic planning and identify impactful levers within a complex organization.
  • Deep Industry Acumen: You possess broad knowledge and thorough understanding of the trends and forces shaping the health care delivery system and the provision of care, financing of treatment, and other emerging issues in health care management.
  • Savvy Interpersonal Skills: You have demonstrated enthusiasm for building strong professional relationships with people from different backgrounds—and an ability to resolve conflicts and maintain focus at all levels.
  • Exceptional Communication: You are effective at communicating complex issues succinctly, and making compelling arguments while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong Self-Motivation: You have a self-starter attitude that shows that you are ready for the fast, and at times unstructured, nature of a startup-like environment—and you’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • High Adaptability: You are highly flexible and comfortable working within an evolving structure, and you can reprioritize as needed. You are willing to jump into any aspect of work to help achieve results as a team.
