Department Description
The Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE) is the organization within Hallmark Technology that is responsible for:

  • Building a world-class, consumer-focused caring platform that enables Hallmark’s lines of business (LOB) across the enterprise (Crayola, Crown Media, Hallmark Global) to accelerate their direct-to-consumer product strategies
  • Developing a Cloud-first, multi-tenant digital platform that provides capabilities and services, such as a unified Hallmark Profile, Product Recommendations, Global Payment services, etc.
  • Building, securing and operating digital consumer products for Hallmark’s LOBs
  • Scaling development capabilities to build for Hallmark’s future

With a consumer-first focus this group delivers impactful digital solutions that have a direct impact on consumer brand engagement and retention in the digital space, which results in revenue growth and brand relevance.
Position Description
The Digital Financial Analyst will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide in-depth financial analyses on all various programs developed by the business unit including API monetization, public cloud infrastructure (infrastructure as a service), platform as a service, software as a service, and payments (card not present, mobile wallets, alternative payments {e.g. PayPal, Venmo}, card present, recurring, and gifting).
  • Support will be in the form of specific financial data and detailed financial analyses. This requires comprehensive understanding of all component line items including primary drivers of the costs including tracking against plan and actuals.
  • Ensure division management understands the analysis and is influenced by your guidance and recommendations and that all costs are considered in each team’s decision-making process. Long-term financial implications should be highlighted in the analyses with accompanying recommendations for managing the economics of the business. Development of data models will be required to run scenario analysis in a timely manner on most large programs.
  • Coordinate the preparation and communication of accurate and timely financial documents, including Profit Plan, Forecasts, and Current Estimate updates and divisional budgets. Ensure that reporting, financials, and supporting documents reflect the best assumptions and decisions of the Division supported.
  • All assumptions should be reviewed for applicability and challenged for accuracy and reasonableness. All significant variances should be thoroughly researched and resolved in a timely manner. Analysis should include a thorough review of the issues and persistent follow-up on solutions/corrections. A brief yet comprehensive summary of all financial documents should be reviewed with the manager in a timely manner.

Essential Duties:
Financial Analysis & Data Modeling: Provide accurate and timely financial analyses and support for all major programs and product formats prior to launch. Long-term financial implications should be highlighted in the analyses with accompanying recommendations for managing the economics of the business. This includes providing in-depth financial analyses on all various programs developed by the business unit including API monetization, public cloud infrastructure (infrastructure as a service), platform as a service, software as a service, and payments (card not present, mobile wallets, alternative payments {e.g. PayPal, Venmo}, card present, recurring, and gifting) including the preparation of data modeling in Excel for scenario analysis, and any other tool necessary to define the financial viability of the program or product. Ensure that the recommendations meet minimum financial hurdles and actively work with the entire Business Unit throughout the entire analysis. Be actively engaged with the business unit on all decisions related to pricing and costing of programs and products.
Planning and Forecasting: Coordinate with stakeholders the communication of accurate and timely financial documents, including Strategic Plan, Formal Forecast, and monthly high-level current estimates against the items listed in the section above. Ensure that these financial documents reflect the best assumptions and decisions of the BU/team. Update VP Technology and Financial Analyst III on significant changes in a timely manner as to limit the number and magnitude of surprises in financial reporting. All assumptions should be reviewed for applicability and challenged for reasonableness. Analyze monthly actuals for accuracy and follow-up on all issues/corrections. Business Partnership Leadership & Influence: Influence the Business Unit to make financially feasible decisions by becoming an active partner in all strategic decisions. Provide the proper analyses noted in the two accountabilities listed above to establish credibility that will ensure that he Business Unit relies on the expertise of the financial analyst prior to making any decisions.
Budget Management: Prepare applicable budget item(s) detail and analysis for the Business Unit. Depending upon the Business Unit being supported, this will include, but is not limited to: salary planning, development of budget targets, recommendations for incremental funding and detailed breakdown of budgets as necessary. Update VP Technology on a weekly basis with reports of any unusual budget activity and follow-up on all issues/corrections. Be proactive with the Business Unit on identifying ways to manage the budget throughout the year in order to achieve the budget targets. Act as the budget manager for line items assigned and input all budget details into the system in coordination with Financial Analyst III. Present monthly budget information to management as necessary.
This is a progressive role that will be filled at the level based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate. The salary range for this job is between $47,594 and $79,483. Salary will take into consideration several factors including location.

Basic Qualifications The following is required to be considered for this role:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering
  • 2+ Years Financial Analyst Experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
