The Digital Communications Specialist will support building the profile and visibility of IDG’s work, impact, and experts with key audiences. Under the direction of the Communications Director, the specialist will coordinate IDG’s social media presence and email marketing platform and provide other communications support. This is an excellent opportunity for an early- to mid-career communications professional with a background in digital communications and an interest in contributing in new ways within a communications team. This will be a full-time position that may be based remotely or in RTI’s offices in Research Triangle Park, NC or Washington, DC. International telecommuters will be considered on a case by case basis. RESPONSIBILITIES Digital Communications and Social Media Create digital communications content including social media posts, stakeholder emails, content-rich visual assets, and video clips; Coordinate IDG’s Twitter accounts and contributions to other RTI social media platforms, keeping IDG informed on social media trends and best practices; Coordinate IDG’s email marketing platform, including content and contact lists; Provide digital communications support to client-funded projects as assigned. Communications Support and Coordination Promote and support global events including conferences, workshops, webinars, panel presentations, receptions, social media events, briefings, etc. At times, attend/staff events in person; Maintain IDG’s editorial and events calendars, keeping current with news and trending topics in international development; Coordinate staging and publishing of content for IDG and client-funded projects; Collaborate with communications colleagues and technical experts based in IDG’s technical divisions and other RTI business units, as well as communications colleagues based in RTI’s Office of Corporate Communications, to achieve shared communications goals; Other duties as assigned based on the strengths and interest of the successful candidate. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, international relations, political science, business administration, or a related field plus a minimum three (3) years of work experience or Master’s degree plus one (1) year of work experience, including the following: Experience managing or contributing to social media profiles and activities on behalf of a business or nonprofit organization; Experience with creative design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva; Experience within international development sector is strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent content creation skills; Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately and concisely convey complex and technical information; Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and establish strong working relationships with colleagues within IDG and other departments across RTI; Excellent oral and written English language communication skills; Strong understanding of how to link communications activities to business strategy and goals; Self-starter, able to think creatively and work independently; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and carry out multiple activities and projects with competing deadlines; Proficiency with email marketing platforms such as Pardot and BEE Pro; Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15 percent time (once travel restrictions are lifted). #LI-EP1 The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
