Earlham College is a top-ranked liberal arts college looking for a Digital Archivist. This entry level position is a twelve-month full-time position in the Earlham Friends Collection and College Archives. This person will be assisting our Director of Special Collections and Archives to make some key advances on much needed digitization projects. Specific duties: · Digitize and upload documents and photographs to the Archives’ online digital repository. · Update existing digitization policies and help establish new procedures where needed. · Write metadata and help establish an in-house controlled vocabulary. · Rebuild and modernize our digital repository, making the existing sites more user-friendly. · Work with the PALNI Digital Team to harvest materials into the Indiana Memory Project. · Integrate our digital collections into ArchivesSpace · Help manage the day-to-day supervision of our student workers, specifically the digitization students. · Assist partners on and off campus with digitization of their collections. · Help with the college’s instance of Archive-It. Required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s Degree · Excellent communication and organizational skills · Ability to work independently · Ability to lift a 30-40 lb. box. Preferred qualifications: · Master's degree in Library and Information Science or related field. · Familiarity with library metadata standards. · Experience working with digitized and born digital collections. · Time spent working in a library or archives environment.
