Job Title – DevOps Engineer (DOE) Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the project management and business services fields as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of our customer’s mission. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory located in Golden, CO. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy. Job duration is projected to be a 12-month period of performance with a hybrid on-site/remote work requirement. Job Summary / Scope: AIS is seeking a DevOps Engineer that will bring a depth of knowledge in DevOps CI/CD and wide general knowledge of applications and operating system administration. With a constant focus on process improvement and automation, you will partner and work closely with the development, QA, platform, cyber security and operations teams to ensure NREL applications are built, patched, deployed, and configured in a timely manner. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for implementation and tuning of the software delivery and testing platforms. The DevOps Engineer will participate in designing platform requirements with the development teams and will contribute to the overall design and implementation of the evolving solution delivery frameworks. Essential Duties - Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Implementation of Automation tasks within QA testing process Troubleshooting server/container/application issues Assist with provisioning of dev/test/prod configuration and support for ITS developed applications Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration Strong experience with docker/Kubernetes configuration and administration Strong Jenkins administration experience Ability to use wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required) A working understanding of code and script (Ruby, PHP, Python, Perl, C#, etc.) Experience supporting Github Adept in a wide array of troubleshooting skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with comprehensive CI/CD platforms such as Gitlab Experience implementing QA tools such as SmartBear, TestRigor, and Selenium Experience with Windows administration and Powershell Experience with HTTP server configuration such as IIS, Passenger, Apache, Tomcat Special Requirements: Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position. This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen. Salary Range: $45.00 to $70.00 per hour – The salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, work experience, and their ability to meet the known requirements of the position as determined at the time of hire. Job location will also be a factor in determining the salary offered.
