Position: Development Officer Division: Institutional Advancement Opening Date: May 20, 2020 Updated on: 09/16/2020 Responsibilities: The Development Officer directs all Annual (JCSU) Fund direct mail, phone, and e-solicitation activities; plans and implements various appeals, fund solicitations and Publications. Coordinates with the Data Analyst and Institutional Advancement Coordinator to maximize data integration and with the Alumni Affairs staff to coordinate messaging and fundraising opportunities. Designs and implements a plan for alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff prospects including parent outreach in coordination with Admissions and Alumni Reunion weekend. Prepare and manage budgets for all programs. Represent the Office of Institutional Advancement University-wide, including working with regional and national Annual Fund Drive committees and associations. Reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree or related experience, with three years of effective experience in fundraising (preferably with Annual Fund campaigns) or a related field is preferred. The Development Officer must exercise initiative and leadership while being a team player with the ability to motivate donors and volunteers. Night and weekend work required when related to special events throughout the year. Responsibilities are divided between office environment and external activities; some travel to visit prospects locally, regionally, and nationally is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Candidate must be extremely organized, highly motivated and capable of managing multiple projects at one time. The equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
