A full-time position for a Development Communications Graphic Designer is available with the Development team at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. The Development Communications Graphic Designer creates Danforth Center branded visual content, both print and digital, in order to inspire donation and support.

Responsibilities:

• Working within existing brand guidelines, originates creative design for branded materials such as: newsletters, annual report, campaign materials, brochures, rack cards, invitations, programs, flyers, social graphics / ecards, web graphics and pages, slide decks, signage and other projects as needed
• Oversees production; bids and awards jobs, performs prepress, proof checking, and production of print/manufacturing jobs with outside vendors
• Plans and executes projects on deadline and budget, secures appropriate approvals
• Provides supervisor with regular updates, attends meetings and reports on status
• Maintains clean files on all projects to departmental standards, including costs, approvals, correspondence, vendors and final print materials
• Assists with content, schedules outside photo/video talent as requested, takes digital photographs and video for departmental use as needed, follows Digital Asset Management system protocols
• Other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Self-motivated, good natured, flexible, and creative
• Proven attention to detail, including proofreading ability
• Superior communications skills and ability to receive feedback and art direction
• Comfortable working in a hybrid office with ability to work on-site as needed, as well as from home

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design
• Three years of experience in professional employment as a graphic designer (nonprofit employer preferred)
• First-hand experience in prepress and digital and offset commercial print production
