Detective Investigator: Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) – Syracuse
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking qualified candidates for a Detective Investigator position located in
Syracuse. Candidates should be hard-working, motivated and committed to public service on behalf of the people
of the State of New York.
MFCU, the centerpiece of New York’s efforts to combat Medicaid provider fraud, is looking for experienced
investigators to conduct complex investigations into fraud committed by Medicaid providers and others in the
healthcare industry who steal from New York State, those involved in the diversion of prescription narcotics, and to
investigate and prosecute abuse and neglect of residents in nursing homes, hospitals, and other residential
healthcare facilities.
The qualifications for this position are: expert interviewing and interrogation skills; experience
conducting investigations involving special victims; experience identifying pattern crimes; experience in
planning tactical operations; experience implementing surveillance programs to monitor potential
criminal activity; experience collecting evidence and executing search and arrest warrants;
knowledgeable of fraud and corruption investigations, and testifying in court; and established contacts
at the city, state and federal levels within the law enforcement community in the area served by the
Syracuse MFCU office. Fluency in a second language is preferred.

Qualifications in addition to those listed above:
Must have at least ten years of law enforcement experience and current NYS basic police school certification.
Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and have the ability to drive a motor vehicle.
The Public Officer’s Law requires that police officers at the OAG be citizens of the United States and reside in
New York State.
Performance of the duties may require frequent, unscheduled work on evenings and weekends and requires 24/7
availability. This position is in the exempt class, and incumbents serve at the pleasure of the Attorney General.
The Hire Rate for this position is $68,264.
