The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is seeking experienced applicants to fill positions as Deputy Sheriff's who perform a variety of law enforcement functions, depending upon the level of experience and area of assignment, in a correctional facility, with the courts, on patrol, or in crime investigations.

NOTE: This Deputy Sheriff - Lateral recruitment targets applicants who have experience as a Peace Officer and possess a current CA POST Basic Certificate or higher.

Deputy Sheriff's must:
1) Be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
2) Be a United States citizen.
3) Pass San Bernardino County's safety, medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, including a drug test.
4) Be fingerprinted and pass a background investigation. Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony.
5) Pass a physical agility test based on California POST standards.
6) Have a valid California driver license.
7) Be available for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
8) Participate in mandated in-service training.
Uniform Allowance: Incumbents receive a yearly uniform allowance of $1,200/year.
(Salary range above includes possession of CA POST Advanced Certificate.) Minimum RequirementsExperience: One (1) year of law enforcement experience as a Deputy Sheriff, Police Officer, Deputy Marshal, or District Attorney Investigator.

Certificate: Must possess a current California POST Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced Certificate. All applicants not currently employed by a California law enforcement agency must have been so employed within the last three (3) years or possess a current California POST Requalification Certificate.
