SPA assists the Government in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to services and SOCOM. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat(CIT) and Countering Threat Network (CTN) technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.Responsibilities: Responsible for managing the scope of the contract. Oversees program budget and schedules and directs staff, often through subordinate project managers. Organizes project and task workloads and selects individuals most qualified for assignments on specific projects. Resolves any issues escalated through the Customer or Project Managers. Responsible for the employment, training, motivation and discipline of assigned employees. Must directly manage Project Managers. May manage nonexempt employees directly or through supervisors/leads.
Also provides advice and assistance to Nuclear Technologies Directorate, and advises the NT Director on all matters and contract support issues. Applies science to support the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues, conducts advanced engineering research, and recommends alterations to development and design activities in order to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Prepares technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions, and conclusions of design and development efforts. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge on subjects such as Nuclear Engineering physics, EE, etc.Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Math, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5-10 Years’ experience in nuclear R&D programs
  • 10+ years’ experience in an engineering or scientific function, including research.
  • A minimum of 15 years of program related experience in related areas with at least 10 years functional or program management experience.
  • TS Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
Desired Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related curriculum. [perfect is low price PhD who can communicate]. w/5 Year of research as an intern or post doc, and 5 years in industry… Working knowledge of nuclear science, detection, forensics, weapons effects, their production, weaponization, delivery/employment, and battlefield effects on personnel and equipment. Understands T&E, acquisition. Knowledge of space satellite systems, DOD weapons systems, aircraft survivability, DOD survivability.
  • Some understanding of EMP, nuclear blackout, radiation, radiation transport, nuclear engineering, survivability, weapons effects
  • 5 Years of program management experience.
