Under direct supervision the Dentist is responsible for Serving as Dentist to the Washoe Tribal Health Center in its efforts to provide dental care to Indian patients and to provide comprehensive oral health services at the Washoe Tribal Health Center. Provides guidance and participates in continuous quality improvement. Participates in efforts to maintain accreditation. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an ADA accredited U.S. dental school, active licensure in any of the United States, and professional ability, as determined by college transcripts and references. Must possess and maintain a valid California or Nevada driver’s license or capable of obtaining one within thirty-days (30) of employment. Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe’s Driving Policy. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation. Preference will be given to Qualified Native American Indians. Provides dental services consistent with education and training within the scope of work and ability of our staff and facility. Complies with applicable Federal, State and Tribal laws, codes and regulations. Works with all dental staff and provides supervision to the dental staff, as related to the day-to-day activities of the Dental Department and in the provision of quality dental care to our patients. Participates in all aspects of the Quality Improvement program including; patient(s), visitor(s), and employee(s) environment health and safety, infection control, security, disaster program, employee health and any other programs which reflects on the quality of care delivered by WTHC. Assists in all related areas to secure and maintain AAAHC accreditation through a nationally recognized health care accrediting organization. Assists to secure related licensing, and additional licensing as needed. Contributes to the team effort by participating in the WTHC facility and community wide program improvements, goals and standards. Maintains any required continuing medical education requirements. Serves on the Washoe Tribal Health Center Service Medical Staff Committee. Performs other duties as required. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Knowledge of a Tribal community clinical setting or demonstrates the ability to be sensitive to and work with American Indians. Knowledge of principles and practices of modern dentistry and oral surgery. Knowledge of clinic dental programs. Knowledge of current management principles and practices including supervision and personnel management. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and regulations including established professional standards. Ability to conduct a dental service and health program for clinic patients. Ability to instruct patients and members of the hospital staff in oral hygiene and dental care. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and other personnel. Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to operate a motor vehicle; stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Hiring preference is provided to members of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the PL101.630-Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act.
